Arcane Universe - Chapter102

The night guards of the Bruce Chamber of Commerce were divided into four duty rooms, each of which was responsible for an area.

Each duty room was assigned a squad of ten people. These ten people were divided into two groups and took turns on duty. When it was time for the first group to be on duty, four people were divided into two groups to patrol the area. There was also one person who climbed up the watchtower to monitor the entire area.

The second group that wasn't on duty was on standby in the guard room. During the night shift, no one was allowed to sleep.

Each of these four squads on duty had a squad leader who was at least mid-ranked, leading ten squad members like Potter.

But Qiankun Pagoda told Feng Chou that these forty people were just for show. Underneath the Chamber of Commerce, there was a force much stronger than these forty guards.

Potter's squad was on duty for the first half of the night, so they could be on standby in the duty room.

Potter sat in the duty room for a while, then left while cursing.

Although the Chamber of Commerce had a rule that the night guards weren't allowed to sleep at night, the captain would turn a blind eye to some people occasionally taking a nap.

Their captain could clearly understand Potter's anger, so he didn't stop him from leaving his post.

When he returned to the guard dormitory, it was empty without a single person in sight. Feng Chou opened a spatial door above a bed and threw Potter, who had fallen into a magical sleep, onto the bed.

Afterwards, Feng Chou quickly walked out of the guard dormitory and arrived in front of a carriage full of goods. He reached out and stuffed Qiankun Pagoda into the gap between the burlap bags on the carriage.

The burlap bags on the carriage were filled with cloth.

Feng Chou had already figured out the destination of this convoy from the information gathered by Qiankun Pagoda. It was to Viscount Fegesack's territory.

After stuffing Qiankun Pagoda's body into the gap between the burlap bags, Feng Chou suddenly disappeared without a trace.

Not long after Feng Chou disappeared, Potter walked out of the dormitory, shaking his head. The feeling of being hit by Magical Sleep was not good.

Potter didn't know that he had been taken into someone else's Dimensional Space. He only remembered that after he woke up and had his meal, he went to the Chamber of Commerce and played cards for a while. He won and lost a lot of money, so he ran back to the dormitory and got lost for a while.

Potter didn't know that his memories were all fake. They were all illusions created by the Qiankun Pagoda.

Although he was unhappy about losing money, Potter didn't dare to throw a tantrum for too long. Their captain looked kind, but when he messed with people, he was like a devil, so he quickly returned to the duty room.

…

The night passed uneventfully. Early the next morning, when the sun had just risen, the dozen or so carriages in the backyard of the Bruce Chamber of Commerce were divided into three caravans, one large and two small. They left the Chamber of Commerce separately.

Two of the small caravans would go to the two Baron's territories near Antalya, while the large caravan would go to Fügssac City.

After the large caravan met up with the Buck Mercenary Group, which they often worked with, near the city gate, they went to the east gate of the north city of Antalya together.

Surprisingly, the guards at the city gate stopped the caravan of the Bruce Chamber of Commerce and forbade them from leaving the city. The reason was that the Bruce Chamber of Commerce was suspected of colluding with the ogres. The city hall ordered that the caravan of the Bruce Chamber of Commerce was not allowed to leave the city.

The leader of the caravan was stunned and hurriedly sent someone back to the Chamber of Commerce to report the situation at the city gate.

About an hour later, a small group of knights arrived at the city gate. The knight in the lead arrogantly handed a warrant to the City Guard officer guarding the gate.

This warrant came from the second son of the Counts Of Antalya, His Excellency Brian.

If it was in the past, the City Guard officer guarding the gate might not care about His Excellency Brian, but now he had to take this order seriously.

The Counts Of Antalya was an old man who was almost seventy years old. As early as ten years ago, the old Count had already handed over the city hall to his successor, Sir John Aston. The current mayor was Sir John Aston's scholar mentor.

Now that Sir John Aston had died in battle, the first successor of the Counts Of Antalya had become His Excellency Brian.

Was the order of the mayor, the mentor of the deceased successor, Sir John Aston, more important, or the order of the current successor, His Excellency Brian?

This was obviously a simple multiple-choice question.

The City Guard officer took the warrant, looked at it, and quickly waved his hand to let it go.

Feng Chou hid in the Qiankun Pagoda and watched the whole thing from beginning to end.

As the possible "culprit", Feng Chou did not find it strange that the Bruce Chamber of Commerce's convoy was stopped. He felt that this should be Darnel's doing behind the scenes. What made him feel strange was the subsequent development of this matter.

As a member of the Counts Of Antalya's family, Brian actually colluded with the Bruce Chamber of Commerce and went against his own Chamber of Commerce. This was somewhat inconceivable.

Thinking of this, Feng Chou thought of the true face of the Bruce Chamber of Commerce and their crazy gray business, as well as the excellent armor on the Gnolls and Ogres …

Thinking of this, a horrifying thought suddenly appeared in Feng Chou's mind!

From Leo's understanding of this world, the behavior of the Ogres in Avon Lake was very abnormal.

In a human kingdom, a group of Ogres defeating a local Lord would bring no benefits other than bringing disaster upon themselves. Why would the highly intelligent Ogre Magus leader do this?

Analyzing the results of the battle, the Ogres' main target seemed to be Sir John Aston.

Why would the Ogres kill Sir John Aston, who seemed to have nothing to do with them?

Thinking of this, the handsome and cold face of the young man who visited the Ogre Encampment that night suddenly appeared in Feng Chou's mind.

At this moment, Feng Chou seemed to have thought of something. He turned around and spoke to Qiankun Pagoda, who was standing behind him like a loyal and devoted butler, "I remember that during the battle, Sir John Aston's position was within your scanning range. You should have scanned Sir John Aston's appearance, right?"

Qiankun Pagoda replied, "Of course."

Feng Chou said, "Show me the projection."

Just as he finished speaking, a figure formed by light suddenly appeared in front of him.

It was a middle-aged knight wearing armor that shone with golden red light. He looked to be around 35 years old. His handsome face revealed maturity, steadiness, and a trace of dignity.

Seeing this figure, Feng Chou couldn't help but sigh slightly. He then ordered Qiankun Pagoda to show him the image of the young man who visited the Ogre Encampment that night.

When the two portraits were placed side by side, even a fool would be able to tell that the two of them were most likely closely related by blood …

With this comparison, the sequence of events became clear. The young man who visited the Ogre Encampment that night should be Sir Brian!

Feng Chou sighed and waved his hand for Qiankun Pagoda to disperse the images of Aston and Brian.

Although he knew this amazing secret, Feng Chou didn't intend to make use of it. For Feng Chou, this level of political struggle was like a flood to an ant. If an ant wanted to make use of the power of the flood, it would be seeking for its own death.

After being allowed to pass, the caravan exited the city gate and followed the main road east.
