Blackstone Cipher - Chapter1

"Did you find a job?"

Lynch, who had just returned home, looked at his girlfriend who was cooking and shook his head apologetically.

His girlfriend was neither disappointed nor emotional. It was as if … not being able to find a job was a very normal thing.

Lynch tried his best to avoid verbal communication. He was afraid that the woman who slept beside him every day would notice his abnormality.

His girlfriend carried the slightly deformed frying pan to the shaky wooden table, put a fried egg on a plate of minced meat, and sat down.

"Don't think too much. I still have some money here. Maybe you can find a job tomorrow. Let's eat first!"

Lynch nodded and began to enjoy the not-so-delicious dinner.

The fork pierced the slightly solidified outer layer of the egg. The thick egg yolk flowed on the minced meat like a natural seasoning or some kind of sauce, making the minced meat more attractive.

He ate mechanically, but his mind was thinking about other things.

He had transmigrated. He didn't know what kind of scientific principle it was, or what other reason it was, but he had transmigrated.

Before transmigrating, he had done many jobs, such as a courier, an insurance salesman, a waiter, and half a cook …

In the 30 years before transmigrating, he had done many unremarkable jobs. After he turned 30, he had undergone a huge change.

In his later words, he had used the 30 years to accumulate experience. Then, he used the accumulated experience to make a speech that successfully moved the judge …

Then, when he slept in that small room for the first time and planned to write an autobiography to recall his legendary life, he gradually fell asleep in a daze and transmigrated.

As soon as he transmigrated, he appeared in this home. The owner of this body was also called Lynch, but this was another world that had nothing to do with his "previous life."

He had nothing except for a girlfriend.

Now, he was like the most failed social scum. He ate his girlfriend's food and lived in her house. Other than helping his girlfriend solve some problems at night, he was like a parasite.

For the past few days, he had been using the excuse of looking for a job to walk around outside. This world gave him an indescribable feeling of novelty.

It felt like the 40s and 50s of the last century, or even the 50s and 60s. Technology was not very advanced, but at the same time, it was an explosive period of technology.

Many products were constantly appearing in front of the public. It was too much for the eyes to take in. He saw the slogan on the posters on the street - "Ariedai, a trace of Ariedai".

In his opinion, this world, this society, was full of money. He only needed to bend down and pick it up.

His blood was slightly boiling, and his heart was also becoming stronger. There was a kind of desire in the depths of his heart. He firmly believed that there was a reason why he had transmigrated.

Perhaps, something made me come here in order to leave behind a legend that belongs to me!

"Go prepare the hot water. We'll take a shower today …" His girlfriend ordered as she cleaned up the dishes.

Lynch nodded and stood up. He walked towards the bathroom not far away. As he walked, he asked casually, "We just showered yesterday …"

During this period of time, he realized that he and his girlfriend had a very clear life plan, and it wasn't completely messy.

The weather now was neither hot nor cold. If they didn't do strenuous exercise, they wouldn't sweat easily, so they basically didn't need to take a shower every day.

It wasn't that people didn't want to clean their bodies every day, but it was because they had to pay for clothes and hot water.

The rich didn't care about this small amount of money. They would even install a boiler in their house to provide a heating system, and buy a washing machine to wash their clothes anytime and anywhere.

However, for the poor, these were unnecessary expenses that they couldn't afford. Therefore, their lives had to become regular.

They had to carefully calculate every expense and abide by the regular life of a monk to save every penny. This was their life.

It wasn't that they wanted to be regular, but it was more because they were poor.

His girlfriend turned around and walked to the side of the sink. She turned on the valve and washed the cutlery. "After midnight, our hot water will stop. We'll pay next week. This way, we can save some money."

Lynch shrugged. He walked into the bathroom and turned on the valve. After the cold water at the front was released, the hot water flowed out from the pipe.

After taking a shower, the two of them lay on the small bed and quickly fell asleep.

Lynch's girlfriend worked in a supermarket as a cashier. She worked ten hours a day, including an hour of rest.

She often received some expired or expired food from the supermarket, or cheap daily necessities. This was also the reason why the two of them could survive even though only one of them worked.

The two were classmates in high school. Neither of them was admitted to university. Lynch worked as a worker for a while, but later he gave up because he was too tired.

Catherine, his girlfriend, found a job in the supermarket and maintained it.

This was a typical loser's family. Whether it was Lynch or Catherine, they didn't know how long they could maintain this kind of life.

Perhaps they could hold on until the day they entered the marriage hall, and then continue to struggle for the rest of their lives.

However, it was also possible that some sudden outburst of emotions could end this fragile relationship at any time.

Early the next morning, Lynch simply freshened up. Catherine had already left, leaving a box of cereal and a bottle of milk on the table.

He walked to the side of the cabinet and poured the milk into the pot to heat it up. He glanced at the expiration date. It was no surprise that it had expired for two days.

This kind of milk would be directly disposed of in the supermarket and thrown into the trash can. However, many supermarket employees were willing to endure the long working hours and low salary to work in the supermarket.

What they were interested in was these things that could be obtained for free.

The rich milk fragrance was a little intoxicating. Lynch was used to soaking things in hot milk, but Catherine and the others were used to soaking things directly. It didn't feel good.

After finishing his breakfast, he took care of his appearance and stopped at a street not far from the place where they were renting.

He wasn't doing nothing these days. Of course, this didn't mean that he was looking for a job. He was just thinking about where he should get his first sum of money.

Although this world was completely different from the other world, there were still traces of the development of some things.

For example, you knew that the land under your feet was worth an inch of gold a hundred years later. You also knew that the price of art skyrocketed every year. You also knew that …

Everyone who stood in Lynch's position would feel a sense of ambition because most of them could grasp the pulse of the future.

However, the problem was that most people's ambition could only be ambition. It couldn't be realized because the present was not the future, and everything needed capital.

Where did the capital come from?

This thing wouldn't fall from the sky, nor would it float from the water. In fact, many people were given the opportunity to go back in time, but they still didn't have any ability to change their lives.

Maybe they did, but some were limited. They might buy one or two more houses, and then stare blankly at their assets when they were old. This was not what they thought at the beginning.

Some people were destined to dance with the wind and clouds, and some people were helpless even if they were given the opportunity.

Obviously, Lynch was the former. He already had all the qualities. He had succeeded, and this was the decisive factor.

He stood there and stared at a laundry shop across the road for most of the morning. He also wrote and drew in a book. He was earning his first bucket of gold.

When it was almost noon and the traffic on the street began to decrease, two guys in trench coats blocked their way. One of them had his hand in his trench coat, as if he was holding something.

"Mr. Fox wants to see you, friend!"

These two people didn't look like good people. Of course, Lynch might be overthinking. He didn't have the slightest fear at this time. Instead, he smiled. "I've been waiting for you for a few days. What are you waiting for? Lead the way!"
