Blackstone Cipher - Chapter12

"Do you have any information on Michael's family?"

After wandering around for a while and making sure that no one was following him, Lynch went to Mr. Fox's office on the first floor of the basement.

He had a look of pity for the weak. This was the biggest tragedy of people like Mr. Fox in this era.

They were rich. Although they might not be as rich as those big capitalists, they were definitely richer than ordinary businessmen. However, they couldn't even afford to rent a good office.

They couldn't see the light of day. Whether it was their business or their wealth, they wouldn't be protected by the law. Instead, they would be targeted by the law. Therefore, they could only work in this damp and moldy basement.

Lynch wanted to laugh when he saw the moldy spots and yellowed decorative boards in the corner. If he had so much money and resources, he would have taken off a long time ago.

His "business" with Mr. Fox was still in its honeymoon phase. Lynch, who could provide more than ten thousand coins a day, had become the person Mr. Fox paid the most attention to recently.

At first, he thought that Lynch couldn't do it. However, as time passed, Lynch's speed increased. Now, he could provide three to four times a day.

Although the number of times had decreased significantly compared to the first day, the amount of change he provided was increasing. This helped Mr. Fox convert the money into money that could be deposited in the bank as soon as possible.

Every day, before he got off work, he would take the initiative to report his income. The tax bureau would come and watch as they poured out the money from the coin slot of every washing machine. After counting, they would deposit it directly into the bank.

Depositing large amounts of money in the bank required tax documents to prove that the money was legal. Only then would the bank allow it to enter the system.

This also meant that Mr. Fox's money was going to bleach faster and faster. In a few months' time, he would be able to rent a storefront in the busiest part of Sabin City and work in a luxurious environment.

This also helped the two maintain a good relationship. Lynch earned some money, but at the same time, Mr. Fox didn't have to worry about any problems. It was a very suitable business.

When Lynch arrived today, the first thing he asked was for Michael's family information. Michael had caused trouble for him time and time again, and even punched him. He couldn't pretend that nothing had happened. He wanted revenge.

Mr. Fox frowned but soon relaxed. "You shouldn't compete with him. You know that he's a licensed person. He won't be the one to suffer in the end!"

Those with "plates" did not refer to those with car plates, but to those who worked for the Federation government and had law enforcement authority. These people were very troublesome. They would naturally treat each other as a whole.

When you deal with one person, you may be dealing with not just one person, but the whole group.

There was once an interesting incident where a lawyer was given a ticket by a mounted police officer for illegally parking his car. The lawyer joked with his friends that not only did he not have to pay the fine, but he could also make the mounted police officer apologize. His friends did not believe him.

Soon, the lawyer took the local police to court and won the case after a fierce court battle. As he said, not only did he not have to pay any fines, but the police also apologized to him in court and in front of the media.

But is this the end of the story?

Not really.

The lawyer won the case but lost his life. Since the day he won the case, the police departments of all seventeen states in the Federation had their eyes on him.

On the highway, he was forced to stop by a total of eleven highway stations. He was pressed onto the hot highway surface eleven times to be searched and photographed.

That's it?

No, he was still living in fear. The police would come looking for trouble with all kinds of strange reasons. For example, someone heard screams coming from his house, or someone reported that his address had been invaded...

Every time he repaired the door, it would be broken by a door breaker. Then, a group of mobile police would rush into his house, lift him and his wife from the bed, and throw them into the yard...

Therefore, it was best not to compete with those with "plates" here. If he angered the whole group, Lynch's life would be a nightmare, especially when his opponent was the tax bureau.

The tax bureau would keep an eye on every transaction he made, and they would encourage the people who traded with him to report him. As long as one of them was verified, they would be able to send Lynch to jail.

However, Lynch smiled. "I just want to send him some gifts to resolve the conflict. He won't think I'm humiliating him, right?"

Mr. Fox was a little hesitant. He couldn't tell if Lynch was telling the truth or not, but no matter what, he had already told Lynch everything. Even if he didn't tell him, Lynch would get the information from somewhere else.

If that happened, it would create a rift between them, so he might as well tell him everything now.

Lynch carefully recorded Michael's information and chatted with Mr. Fox. If nothing unexpected happened, Mr. Fox's money should be in the bank in about two to three months at the current speed.

This was a good thing. At the same time, Mr. Fox also had a new question. "Lynch, my friend, I know you're a young man with a lot of ideas. How do you think I can make my business legal?"

He smiled. "It wasn't easy for me to get rid of these troubles. I don't want to get involved again. Maybe you have some ideas that I haven't thought of?"

To put it bluntly, Mr. Fox's business was to lend money to people in need and collect interest. However, his interest was much higher than the maximum interest limit set by the Federation's law.

And some of the agreements had the phenomenon of illegal compound interest, which made his business a little awkward. Even if he could get the money back, the money couldn't be deposited in the bank.

If the transaction was done through the bank, the other party only needed to provide the agreement and the bank flow to convict Mr. Fox directly. The interest he asked for was beyond the Federation's law.

Not only would he be investigated by the prosecutor and the tax bureau, but he would also not be able to get the money back. The law would not recognize the validity of the agreement, and at the same time, would not allow Mr. Fox to ask for the loan and interest through any legal means.

This was also the problem that most people in this industry were facing. If they couldn't solve these problems, their money would eventually turn gray even if it was bleached.

Lynch didn't answer. He only shrugged. In fact, he knew how to solve this problem, but he wouldn't say it out loud.

After chatting with Mr. Fox for a while, Lynch left in satisfaction. He walked around outside and came to Michael's place.

Michael's family lived in an upscale neighborhood in Sabin, and he had a good family.

His wife was quite beautiful and looked very young. She should be a full-time housewife. Every day, she revolved around her husband and children. The rest of her time was spent watching TV and socializing with housewives.

His son, Michael Jr., was a high school student studying in a nearby private high school. His grades were average, and he had a few girlfriends. Other than studying, he was interested in everything else.

Simple, common, and very common families of the lower privileged class.
