Breaking the Day - Chapter48

The Grim Stork leapt out of the cliff. Although it had suffered a heavy blow, it was not injured at all. Instead, it was enraged to the point of insanity.

It let out a roar that shook the valley, then exerted strength in its limbs and shot towards the man like a cannonball.

Almost at the same time, the man exerted strength in his feet and the mountain road caved in. In the blink of an eye, he appeared in front of the Grim Stork. Without waiting for the Grim Stork to swing its front paw, he punched the Grim Stork's sharp beak.

The Grim Stork's body fell heavily to the ground. Before it could get up, the man punched the Grim Stork in between its eyes, causing it to let out a shrill cry.

The Grim Stork's tail whipped towards the man. It was a sneaky attack, quick as lightning. Li Chengfeng had lost his ability to fight because of this tail whip.

Li Chengfeng was about to warn the man when he saw the man raise his hand and catch the Grim Stork's long tail with one hand.

His movements were so light that if the man had not sunk an inch into the ground when he caught the tail, Li Chengfeng would have suspected that the tail did not even have the strength of one kilogram.

When the man caught the Grim Stork, he hugged its tail with both hands. With a yell, he flung the Grim Stork into the air. Before the Grim Stork reached its highest point in the air, the man leaped again and landed a heavy punch on the Grim Stork, sending it crashing to the ground.

Li Chengfeng watched as the previously arrogant Grim Stork was beaten up like a sandbag by the man before him. It had no power to retaliate and was lying in a deep pit in a few breaths' time, wailing in pain.

Li Chengfeng was shocked. If the man had used magic to suppress this unknown beast, he would have thought it was natural. However, the man was using martial arts. This was completely beyond his understanding and imagination.

A martial artist who cultivated to the peak was so powerful!

Who was this man?!

Only the experienced and knowledgeable Yuehan knew that there was only one person in the world who could cultivate to such a state and have such power in just a few moves!

And this person was the same person who had accomplished the same feat as Li Chengfeng a decade ago: the Martial Saint of the World, Zhang Zaijun!

Zhang Zaijun threw the Grim Stork into the deep pit with a few punches and kicks. He stared at the Grim Stork, who seemed to be convulsing in pain. After losing the ability to retaliate, he turned to his female companion and took the snow-white mink cloak from her.

But before he could put it on, his figure suddenly froze and he pushed the mink fur cloak back into her hands. The woman immediately understood and took a few steps back with the cloak in her hands.

Li Chengfeng looked over in confusion to see the Grim Stork struggling to stand up. It coughed up blood as its skin peeled off, revealing a bloody wound. The muscles and bones in the wound wriggled as if something was growing out of it.

"Son!

Are you alright?! "

Madam Xie could no longer control herself when she saw the Grim Stork fall. She rushed down the mountain while the refugees cheered.

Li Chengfeng saw her running towards him and yelled in fear, "Mother, don't come!"

But there was nothing in this world that could stop a mother from caring for her son. Madam Xie sprinted towards Li Chengfeng, looking him up and down nervously with tears in her eyes. She reached out, wanting to touch her son but was afraid of touching his wounds.

She sobbed, "Son, I'm glad you're alright!"

"Where's Father?

How is he? "

She wiped her tears. "Your father's bones and organs are injured but his life is not in danger.

My son, take this opportunity to run away quickly! "

"My benefactor is still here, how can I run away first?"

She stomped her foot. "You're heavily injured and can't help him. What else can I do?

If I stay, I'll only be a burden to my benefactor. "

"Look, look!" Green Bead suddenly shrieked in fear, her voice trembling.

Li Chengfeng turned his head to look in that direction. What he saw shocked everyone to the core.

At this time, the Grim Stork's flesh and blood had grown a pair of gigantic wings. These wings were not like the wings of a normal bird, but were made up of densely packed bones. These bones wriggled and creaked, producing an ear-piercing sound.

Asparta trembled, his voice trembling. "It's the Flying Grim Reaper!

The Sun God!

Please save us! "

Zhang Zaijun cautiously watched the Grim Stork's drastic change. He suddenly moved and charged forward, kicking out with the force of a steel whip.

However, as soon as Zhang Zaijun kicked, the Grim Stork's bone wings immediately folded in front of it. Zhang Zaijun's kick landed on the bone wings and the Grim Stork slid a few meters away on the ground. Its four limbs dug a few deep trenches in the ground, but this time, with the strong bone wings protecting its body, it was not hurt at all!

Zhang Zaijun frowned. His body flashed again and appeared in front of the Grim Stork in the blink of an eye. He tried to force his way into the Grim Stork's bony wings and attack its body in close combat. However, the monster was obviously very smart. When it saw Zhang Zaijun approaching, it immediately kicked off with its four claws and leaped off the ground. Then, it spread its bony wings and flew up, hovering in the air.

Zhang Zaijun missed. He crouched down slightly and was about to leap into the air when he saw the Grim Stork's wings spread wide, each wing bone standing on its end. It began to spin in the air, the bone pieces shooting out from its wings towards Zhang Zaijun like a storm.

Zhang Zaijun immediately stopped and looked at the woman not far away. The woman seemed to have a tacit understanding with him. Her figure flashed and she immediately rushed to Zhang Zaijun's side.

Zhang Zaijun stomped on the ground with one foot, and a horizontal crack immediately appeared on the ground. He bent down and reached his hand into the ground, and like lifting up a carpet, he forcibly lifted up a large piece of the ground. He and the woman beside him hid behind the piece of mud that he held up with one arm.

Li Chengfeng gaped. He had always been proud of his talent and adaptability but this was the first time he felt that there was always someone better than him!

How could he dodge the storm-like bombardment of flying arrows like this?

Li Chengfeng grabbed Madam Xie's arm. "Mother, you're right, let's go!"

The four of them quickly ran up the mountain but they had only taken two steps when Li Chengfeng suddenly heard a piercing sound. He instinctively reached out to stop Madam Xie, Su Yuehan and the rest.

Less than a metre in front of them, a row of razor-sharp bone arrows had been nailed into the ground. The impact of the bone arrows was so strong that it tore a terrifying hole in the ground. Li Chengfeng felt the ground sink in, then the ground beneath his feet sank in as well.
