Code of the Black Dragon - Chapter35

"You said that you want to work with us?"

Sve looked at Roy Brendel, the leader of the merchant group who had dealt with the Stone Crow clan many times. He tapped his bone staff lightly with his long fingernails, "You want to sell our fruit on behalf of the Stone Crow clan?"

As he spoke, he turned his gaze to Gall, Orkash, and the others. Under the old leader's scrutinizing gaze, the Orcs lowered their heads and looked at their chests, as if they had revealed the clan's greatest secret.

"Please forgive me for being presumptuous, elder."

Roy bowed slightly. He had never spoken to the true leader of the Stone Crow clan face to face. Facing a spellcaster who might be an archmage, anyone should maintain their respect, "You can't blame them. Your warriors are just too honest and did not want to see us tortured by the curse."

He explained to the Orcs who went to the Duru Basin with him, hoping to gain their favor.

"Lord Wizard, ever since the accident last time, I have been feeling very guilty. To be honest, I sympathize with your misfortune and hope that I can find a way to make up for my mistakes."

Roy wiped away his non-existent tears and put on a sorrowful expression, "But I am just an ordinary merchant. Other than praying to the Gods day and night, what else can I do?"

"But today, I have found a way to repay your kindness."

His expression changed from sorrow to excitement, "As long as you can sell your fruit to my merchant group, I, Roy Brendel, am willing to swear on my honor that I will bring you a large amount of wealth in the near future and improve the Stone Crow clan's current situation."

The old leader did not reply.

In fact, the person who spoke to Roy was not a wizard, but Caesar who was far away in the mountain's nest. Sve established a telepathic link with the Black Dragon and relayed Caesar's words to him.

There was a moment of silence. During this time, Roy stared at the old Orc's expression, trying to guess his thoughts.

"I cannot give you the recipe. This is a secret passed down from the Stone Crow clan since ancient times." The old Orc said.

"Secret my ass."

Roy cursed in his heart. Who knows if this damn Orc clan has been in the Wilderness for more than two hundred years? Who knows if you stole the formula when you were serving some evil dragon as a family? And you still have the cheek to talk about secrets? You're even more hypocritical than humans.

He did not expect that his random guess would be so close to the truth.

Speaking of which, Roy also knew that it was not realistic to pry the fruit juice formula out of these orcs, and the hope was quite slim, so he did not pester them too much. He nodded slightly and said, "I understand. I respect the customs and taboos of the various clans."

"Although I am only an ordinary merchant, I still have many friends in the Northern Kingdoms. As long as you can sell your products to me, I believe that in the near future, tons of food will be delivered to the Stone Crow Clan."

Such a firm promise seemed to make Old Orc Siff feel a little relieved. He nodded and asked, "How much is it?"

How much profit?

Roy was stunned. 'Splitting' was a rather fashionable business model in the northern countries. It generally only appeared in the economically developed south and sea trade. In the relatively backward northern countries, merchants usually sold goods for others, and they generally used the model of regular commissions.

Originally, he thought that once the Stone Crow Clan handed over the fruit to him, these stupid beastmen would have nothing to do with him. The beastmen would have no way of knowing what was going on in the market, and he could just hire a professional merchant to tell them whatever he wanted.

By then, he could directly take all the profits. These dirty and stupid Orcs were only fit to follow behind him and drink some soup.

But he did not expect that the Orcs, who were ignorant, would say the word "profit sharing". This old Orc's wisdom and firmness were beyond his imagination. It caused his originally clear thoughts to be messed up, and he had to reconsider his plan.

Roy fell into a short silence.

However, he was still one of the heirs of a big clan. He quickly sorted out his thoughts.

"There is one thing that cannot be denied. The fruit is indeed brewed by the Orcs."

Soon, Roy had a plan in his mind. He said tentatively, "But please allow me to remind you that the transportation of the goods and the sales to the Northern countries are all handled by me. Moreover, it is not easy to build a business channel from scratch."

"So, I hope that the profit will be divided into three parts. The Stone Crow clan will take three parts. Do you agree?"

He finished his sentence in one breath. There were many obscure words that the Orcs could not understand. His purpose was to confuse the old wizard and make him agree to his conditions.

Unexpectedly, the old wizard did not care about what he said. He immediately shook his head and refused, "No, the Stone Crow clan will take seventy percent."

"How is that possible?!"

Roy seemed to be shocked. His face was full of shock, "My friend, please understand. I am only a merchant. It is not easy to sell foreign goods to the Northern countries. The city guards and nobles are all vampires … I need at least sixty percent."

"Seventy percent of the Stone Crow clan and thirty percent of the humans."

The old Orc was not moved. He insisted that he would not change his mind, "If you do not agree, you can cancel this cooperation."

This showed the effect of Caesar's previous plan. If the Stone Crow clan took the initiative to ask the humans to sell the summer grass, they would definitely be suppressed. No matter how profitable the summer grass was, they would be exploited until only a layer of skin was left.

In the end, he planned to let the caravan "coincidentally" discover the fruit juice brewed by the Orcs. The Orcs could not resist the temptation and took the initiative to ask for the Stone Crow clan's help. The humans were naturally at a disadvantage in negotiations. The Orcs firmly held the upper hand.

No matter how glib Roy's tongue was, as long as Caesar did not agree, he could not do anything.

In the end, Roy could not resist the huge profits of the summer grass. He agreed to an agreement with the Stone Crow clan. The tribe would provide the fruit juice and the caravan would be responsible for selling it to the Northern countries. The profits would be divided forty to sixty, and the Stone Crow clan would take sixty percent.

"Then, please let us sign our names together under the witness of the God of Truth."

The old Orc's words extinguished Roy's last hope. He gritted his teeth. Considering that this was a business without any capital, even forty percent was better than nothing. He reluctantly signed his name "Roy Brendel" on the contract.
