Code of the Black Dragon - Chapter9

The Dragon Whelps roared excitedly and rushed to the pool of water impatiently. They rolled around in the quagmire and ignored the hostile or fearful gazes of the other predators.

They had no reason to be afraid. When the Black Dragon's mother was still around, these predators and even the more powerful ferocious species were merely their food.

How could a lion be afraid of livestock?

There was only contempt in Garen's and Blakesia's eyes. However, they had forgotten a very important point: Putting aside the bloodline and identity, a Dragon Whelp's true combat power was actually not much stronger than these strong predators.

Fortunately, Caesar had remembered.

Moreover, looking at the various predators that were gradually approaching the Dragon Whelps, Caesar was sure that these fellows had remembered as well.

Do not underestimate these inferior creatures. They were very smart. After discovering the threat of the Dragon Whelps, the animals had reached a consensus and formed an alliance with each other through eye contact.

In the natural world, when the number of predators exceeded the number of food, the predators would either starve to death or continuously eliminate the weak until the balance was restored.

It was obvious that the number of predators in this pool of water was close to saturation and could no longer accept other carnivorous creatures.

In this area, no animal was a match for the three Dragon Whelps alone. If they did not want to be eliminated, they could only work together to deal with the Black Dragon Whelps.

In order to survive, they had to kill the three Dragon Whelps. Even if they could not, they had to expel the Dragon Whelps and chase away the new competitors.

"This is a little troublesome."

Caesar had a slight headache. Garen and Blakesia were too domineering. They occupied the most central position of the pool of water as soon as they arrived and provoked the dissatisfaction of the other predators to the greatest extent, resulting in the worst outcome.

They were True Dragons. However, at this age, the Black Dragon might not necessarily be a match for such a large group of predators.

A fight was inevitable.

However, although he was slightly dissatisfied with the two Dragon Whelps' impudence, Caesar did not really blame his younger siblings. After all, thirst was an uncontrollable nature of the Black Dragon. It was as normal as the need to eat and poop. Even he had the urge to rush into the pool of water unconsciously.

However, he could suppress this emotion. What really infuriated Caesar was the slow reaction of the two Dragon Whelps.

The other predators had already formed an encirclement and revealed their murderous intent. However, Garen and Blakesia were still playing with the mud and fiddling with it. They were completely unprepared.

"I'm guessing that you must have awakened a new dragon-type talent. You don't have to care about these carnivores at all."

Caesar was a little cunning. He suddenly decided not to remind them. The jungle was not a game. The two Dragon Whelps had to be taught a painful lesson.

Fortunately, dragons had thick skin and were extremely resistant to beatings. Even if they were surrounded, there wouldn't be any problems for a short period of time.

Caesar thought as he crouched down on the hill, full of malice. He quietly observed the changes. His eyes wandered between the Maned Lion and the Terror Wolf. These creatures that obviously did not exist in his memory made him feel a little uneasy.

The Terror Wolf leader was several times larger than the other male wolves, and there was an exaggerated scar at the bottom of its neck. It was a scar left behind from a fight with other predators. Although it had already healed, the deformed wound was still shocking to look at.

Its fur was exuberant and stood upright like steel needles. It was pacing horizontally.

Although this Terror Wolf was wary of the Black Dragon Whelps, it was not afraid. It looked at Garen and Blakesia with its vertical eyes. Its bright yellow irises blinked, and a suppressed low growl came from its throat.

Behind it was the Terror Wolf Pack.

The two Maned Lions swayed their scorpion-like tails and approached slowly. One of them opened its mouth and yawned silently, revealing its sharp fangs with minced meat.

Caesar could even smell the stench of blood that came with the wind.

Without the expected roar, the Maned Lion pounced forward directly and launched an attack without any warning. It completed the extreme change from silence to movement and charged directly at the two Dragon Whelps.

The next moment, the Terror Wolf Pack began to run as well. They jumped into the swamp one after another, making splashing sounds as they surrounded and hunted the Dragon Whelps from another direction.

Whether it was the Maned Lion, the Terror Wolf, or the hyenas and cheetahs waiting for an opportunity, they were all very quiet and maintained their silence.

The first roar in the entire process was actually the Black Dragon.

"Roar!"

"Damn it, you daring fellows!"

Blakesia roared in the Common Language. The two Dragon Whelps finally realized that something was wrong. These Inferior Races actually dared to bare their claws and fangs at the Dragons. The two Dragon Whelps approached each other and roared at the top of their lungs.

They were using the "Ferocious Aura" ability. However, the Dragon Whelps' Draconic Aura was too thin and could not intimidate the similarly ferocious large predatory creatures.

Caesar, who was lying on top of the ravine and watching, wanted to cover his face. The two Dragon Whelps still did not understand the situation. They did not want to break out of the encirclement, but they were still roaring and threatening.

In this land of savagery, without power, even if the Gods from the Heavenly Realm came, they would be torn apart by these animals who relied on their instincts to act, let alone the Dragons.

It looked like they were bound to receive a solid beating. If they did not suffer some injuries and lose a few scales, they would not learn their lesson.

The Dragon Whelps were surrounded.

Fortunately, they were not retreating in defeat like Caesar had imagined. Although they had been ambushed and hit by the mucus spurted out by the Manticore's tail at the very first moment, causing them to lose their ability to fly, the young dragons were still able to fight back and forth with their opponents with their sharp claws and solid scales, as well as the ferocious, cruel, and vicious nature that belonged to the Black Dragon.

However, there were too many opponents. Just the Manticore and Terror Wolf were already difficult to deal with, not to mention the hyenas and leopards surrounding them and attacking them from time to time.

As time passed, the Dragon Whelps who had lost their ability to fly would be exhausted to death sooner or later.

"Hmm … In addition to the usual methods, there's also that tail. It looks quite sharp, and there's a fatal risk of being stabbed."

Caesar muttered as he watched the battlefield. He was not purely watching the Dragon Whelps get beaten up. In fact, his brain was also rapidly analyzing, thinking about the attack patterns and strength of the creatures he had never seen before.

For example, the Manticore and Terror Wolf, which were unique to this world, had already broken away from the level of ordinary beasts. They had barely reached the level of ferocious and violent species.

"Ortorenso!"

Garen slapped the Terror Wolf that was biting his tail to the ground. He roared loudly, calling for backup.

"Don't they use magic to fly?

They're still restricted by the mucus. If that's the case, the Manticore's mucus has the ability to block the transmission of magic to a certain extent. "

Caesar noted down his own deductions and turned his gaze towards the Terror Wolf pack. "Their attacks are orderly, and the division of labor is reasonable. There's an obvious social structure, and the alpha wolf's intelligence seems to be quite high."

"Caesar!" Blakesia was flipped over by the agile Manticore and screamed shrilly.

"The hyenas and leopards' physiques are similar to those on Earth. They don't show any extraordinary powers, so they probably won't pose much of a threat to the Dragon Whelps. No wonder they're all hiding at the back."

Caesar turned a deaf ear to her and continued to observe the battlefield. He sorted through the information he had obtained once again, and after confirming that there were no mistakes, he muttered softly, "Call Daddy and I'll come help you."

He flapped his dragon wings lightly and ran nimbly. After a few steps, he began to gradually increase his speed. Finally, he reached his limit and crashed into the wolf pack.

"Bang, bang, bang …"

This was a Black Dragon that had undergone genetic modification. His strength far exceeded that of his brothers. Caesar was like a heavy tank that crashed into the wolf pack with a howl. He only stopped when he overturned the fourth Terror Wolf.

"Kill the alpha wolf first!"

Caesar roared and pushed away the beast's corpse that was already badly mutilated and stuck to him. He increased his speed again and rushed towards the Terror Wolf alpha that was heavily protected.
