And this day or two had become the happiest festival.
Therefore, Zero ate until he was very, very full the night before. His stomach was so full that it was about to explode. When he returned to his room, he was woken up very early the next morning. He heard loud noises pouring into the tavern, and there was a lot of laughter.
He mumbled in his sleep, turned over, and went back to sleep with his pillow. In this cold world, he could only feel comfortable and warm by curling up in his small bed.
Then, not long after, he was awakened by the sound of the door being pushed open. He heard Sifiglan's soft voice say, "Get up. Come with me."
He sat up in a daze and half opened his eyes. As a slave, he did not ask questions. Instead, he immediately stood up and put on his clothes. Then, he followed Sifiglan's footsteps out of the room and down the stairs. He saw many guests drinking at the dining table in the tavern hall next to the handrail.
These people's eyes were filled with fear as they pointed at a corner of the tavern. Over there, blood was like dried mud, staining the bright floor. Bart's corpse was still lying on the ground, and beside his corpse was a broken cyan battle blade that had fallen to the ground.
The tavern owner did not dare to provoke one of the biggest bullies in the city, so he did not dare to deal with it for the whole night.
He was afraid that if he did not deal with it properly, the bully's accomplices would come to his door, and his bones would be in soup.
Sifiglan's exquisite silver boots stepped on the wooden stairs, making a crisp sound, like a piece of music played by a harp. Everyone's eyes involuntarily pulled over. When they saw Sifiglan in a slender silver robe, their eyes were filled with a mysterious light.
Intense light burst out from the eyes of these people, and they stared at Figland with scorching eyes. However, the owner of the tavern looked as if he had seen a ghost. His slightly fat and burly body trembled, and his two legs trembled involuntarily. His face turned pale.
With an elegant smile on her lips, Sifiglan walked to an empty table. When she was about to sit down, Zero quickly stepped in front of her. He quickly wiped the chair clean with his sleeves, then bowed his head to Sifiglan and said, "Sister, you can sit down."
Sifiglan looked at him, and the corners of her mouth moved slightly. Then, without saying anything, she sat down. She looked at Zero, who was wiping the table in front of her with his sleeves again. She felt a little ripple in her heart, like a raindrop falling into a lake.
Zero quickly wiped the table and then stood beside her like a young guard. His face was very serious and meticulous.
Sifiglan said softly, "You sit down too."
"Slaves can't sit."
"If I tell you to sit, then sit," Sifiglan said helplessly.
Hearing her slightly stern tone, Zero was afraid that she would be angry and leave him alone, so he didn't say anything more and went to the chair opposite her. Then, in the surprised eyes of everyone in the tavern, including Sifiglan, the boy jumped onto the chair and squatted down like a puppy. His face was a little hot. It was the first time in his life that he had been paid so much attention to by so many people. His heart was pounding, and he said in a low voice, "Slaves can only squat. I'll squat."
Sifiglan almost fainted with anger.
The others did not hear Zero's words because they were far away, but they were surprised and amused by the strange boy's behavior.
Thus, some people laughed.
Then the laughter quickly stopped.
Because for some reason, the person who laughed suddenly became motionless. Moreover, his pupils lost their luster and color, turning into an empty grayish-white color. Then, he collapsed on the table.
The people at the next table were surprised and pushed his body hard, but found that they couldn't wake him up. When they tested his nose, they found that there was no breath.
"Ah –" A scream of horror pierced the entire tavern like a sharp sword. "Someone's dead –"
Everyone looked at the man who suddenly fell down in surprise. They didn't know what strange disease he had that made him die so suddenly.
Only the owner of the tavern turned his head in horror and looked at Sifiglan next to him. He found that she was smiling and sipping the teacup on the table.
Opposite her, Zero was squatting on the chair like a puppy, looking at the laughing man in surprise.
A low sobbing sound came from the mouth of the woman at the dead man's table. She sobbed and wiped her tears. Her sad look was pitiful.
"Ding –"
Suddenly, the sound of a bell rang from behind the curtains outside the tavern. It was like raindrops falling on a tranquil lake, creating a circle of ripples that spread out in the air.
For some reason, everyone couldn't help but turn their heads to look. Then, they saw a snow-white and slender hand pulling up the curtain-like curtain and walking in. The light shone on her body. She was dressed in a wide black robe, as if it was filled with wind, gently bulging. A wide black hat covered her head, and only her snow-white chin had soft black hair draped over it, setting off her exquisite chin. Without looking at her appearance, everyone was already attracted by this exquisite chin.
Zero couldn't help but look over, his face full of curiosity.
Sifiglan was still tasting his tea, looking out the window at the snow on the house and the street in the distance, his eyes flashing with a faint sadness.
The black-robed woman entered the tavern, and with a straight stride in her fine black leather boots, she walked past the tavern keeper at the counter as if she had not seen him. She went straight to the table at which Figueroan was seated.
Then, she brushed past him.
Without moving her head, she sat at an empty table not far behind Zero. The sound in the tavern seemed to have been swallowed by an invisible force after she came in.
Everyone was silent.
Even the woman whose husband had died forgot to cry and stared blankly at the black-robed woman. She didn't know why she couldn't bear to look away. She stared at her as if she was fascinated by her.
Zero couldn't help but look back. Sifiglan sipped his tea slowly, then looked up at Zero. "What are you going to have for breakfast?"
Zero turned back and looked at him blankly. "I don't eat breakfast."
"You don't eat breakfast?" Sifiglan raised his eyelids. "Aren't you hungry?"
"Not hungry."
As soon as Zero finished speaking, his stomach growled. Sometimes the body was more honest than the mouth, so his face turned red.
Sifiglan looked at him angrily. "Are you trying to say that slaves don't eat breakfast?"
Zero's face turned even redder.
"Snap!"
Sifiglan elegantly reached out and snapped his fingers. The tavern owner, like a summoned bear, stood respectfully and tremblingly at the corner of the table in front of him, his face full of flattery. "Excuse me, what can I do for you?"
Sifiglan looked at Zero.
Zero blushed and looked at the tavern owner next to him. After a long time, he squeezed out a few words. "Boss, I want a steamed bun."
The tavern owner was stunned.
Sifiglan rolled his eyes angrily, waved his hand, and said, "Give him three steaks, medium well, two glasses of milk, and a fried dragon sparrow egg."
The tavern owner nodded and bowed. When he heard the last order, he wiped the cold sweat from his forehead with some distress. He said with a bitter face, "The dragon sparrow eggs in the shop are sold out. The new ones haven't arrived yet."
Sifiglan took a sip of tea and didn't even look at him. He said lightly, "If you don't have them, go and get them. If you can't, I'll be angry."
The tavern owner's legs trembled and his teeth chattered. "Yes, yes, I'll go and borrow a few from other shops." With that, he turned and ran away.
Zero watched the tavern owner run away with his tail between his legs. She couldn't help but ask, "Sister, isn't this a little inappropriate?"
Sifiglan looked at him with interest. "Aren't slaves supposed to listen to their masters? Why do you think my behavior is bad?"
Zero scratched his head and said with a red face, "But I don't think of you as my master."
"Then what do you think?"
"I think of you as my sister."
Sifiglan's body trembled slightly and then returned to normal. She turned her head and looked out of the window into the distance, not speaking for a long time.
Not long after, the tavern owner came back and handed the breakfast to Zero. Zero stood up and said politely, "Thank you."
Sifiglan didn't turn his head. He looked out of the window and said, "Eat quickly. I have something to do later."
"Okay!" Zero nodded quickly and began to eat obediently.
Sure enough, he ate very quickly and finished it in less than two minutes. In the end, his mouth was stuffed with beef, and it swelled up. Then, he hit his chest and swallowed it down. Then, he drank the milk in big gulps.
"Let's go." Sifiglan stood up.
Zero looked at her curiously. "Sister, aren't you eating?"
Sifiglan didn't look back and said indifferently, "I don't need to eat."
With that, he stepped over Bart's stiff body and walked outside. When he reached the door of the tavern, he suddenly stopped and turned to look at Zero. "I didn't bring any weapons with me this time. I'll give you a bad one first. When I get a good one, I'll give it to you to defend yourself."
"What?" Zero was stunned.
Sifiglan turned back and waved his hand gently. The broken cyan broadsword next to Bart flew to him as if it was wrapped in a mysterious force. Then, a transparent wave flashed across the two parts of the broadsword, as if the air and water were shaking.
Then, Zero saw that the two parts of the broadsword miraculously came together and were tightly connected. The lines of the law on it were very clear and complete. It was restored to its original state without any trace of damage.
Sifiglan handed the cyan broadsword to Zero. Zero waved it up and down and looked at it with excitement and curiosity, but also a little fear.
Sifiglan's eyes flickered slightly. He said, "This broadsword is yours. Use it to defend yourself. Let's go." There was a trace of strangeness in his voice. After that, he turned and walked out of the tavern.
Zero looked at the sword in her hand as if she was looking at a new toy. She couldn't stop playing with it. Then, she followed Sifigland out of the room, opened the curtain, and stood outside the door. Dazzling light poured down from the sky like mercury, enveloping her body and emitting a faint glow.
Zero squinted slightly. She had been in the dark for too long and was obviously not used to the sudden strong light.
