Dark Ruler - Chapter10

The dazzling lightning streaked across the darkness and struck the wall, producing a deafening sound.

In an instant, gravel fell, and the darkness retreated as though it was afraid of the light. A shrill scream erupted and echoed in the narrow tunnel.

However, Jenn wasn't bothered. He allowed the lightning to flicker and disappear on the back of his hand. Then, he raised his right hand again.

Soon, following Zayen's movements, the blazing flames pushed forward along the ground.

The scorching heat and eruption of flames once again illuminated the pitch-black darkness.

Even though it was only for a moment, Jenn's sharp eyes captured the afterimage of the tentacles that retreated quickly in front of the flames.

He didn't say a word and just gestured in that direction.

Shortly after, Enoya flew forward and lashed the Thunder Whip in her hand mercilessly.

Boom!!

The Thunder Whip struck the ceiling and emitted a dazzling white light and electric current that once again captured the monster lurking in the darkness.

Jenn could see the monster shivering on the ceiling with electric current wrapped around its body.

But at the next moment, the shadowy monster broke free from the electric current and ran toward the depths of the tunnel while screaming.

"Let's chase it. It can't get far."

Jenn wasn't surprised. Most of the underground creatures were resistant to magic, which was why few adventurers on the surface dared to come here.

The magic released by ordinary Mages was basically child's play in the eyes of the underground creatures, and the powerful Mages wouldn't come to this godforsaken place for no reason.

Zayen might only be able to cast two spells at the moment, but with the addition of his Nephilim royal bloodline, as well as years of constant research on magic, the power of these two spells on the surface was already comparable to the spells cast by a high-level mage.

But even so, it only paralyzed the Dark Demon for a moment, which showed how strong the magic resistance of the underground creatures was.

However, Jenn wasn't concerned. After activating the Dungeon System, he had endless Mana support.

The Dungeon Heart wasn't only the core of the system, but it also provided Mana support to Jenn at all times.

In terms of numbers, Jenn would need at most 30 points of mana to cast a spell, and even if he took turns to cast two spells, it would only cost 60 points.

The Dungeon Heart would restore 100 Mana Points to Jenn every second. As the Dungeon's level increased, the Mana Points would increase.

This also meant that even if Jenn continuously released these two spells, he would never run out of mana.

Not to mention that during these years in the Realm of Devils, Jenn had been immersed in the study of various magic knowledge.

He was well aware of his weaknesses, but he also knew how to make up for them.

Due to the limitations of his "level", Jenn wasn't able to cast those powerful Advanced Spells.

However, it was a blessing in disguise. During this process, Jenn mastered a unique technique. He could control any spells that he could cast and make them move according to his will.

He wasn't like an ordinary Magician, who wouldn't care about the spells after casting them.

This was Zayen's biggest reliance, and also the source of confidence for him to dare to stride in this dark cave and approach the monsters.

In terms of the total number of spells, Jenn's spells were equivalent to three or four Advanced Magicians' combined, but he was still calm and composed.

The saturation attack consumed resources, but the effect was immediate.

At the start, the Demon tried to exhaust Jenn's spells so that it could ambush him when he was exhausted.

But shortly after, it had no choice but to retreat in the face of Jenn's continuous bombardment of spells.

Even though Jenn wasn't flawless, his loyal adjutant filled in the gaps well.

She brandished the Thunder Whip to block off all parts that could be used by the Demon and resolutely attacked the Demon according to Jenn's will.

As an Undead Creature, Enoya didn't need to worry about being attacked and controlled.

This young lady who looked like she never stepped out of the house was even more violent and brave than a drunk dwarf at this moment.

She didn't care if she would be hurt. To Enoya, as the adjutant, completing her master's orders was the only thing she had to do.

Under the joint attack of Jenn and Enoya, the Demon was battered and exhausted.

The Gray Dwarves that it controlled were blocked by Verna and her subordinates and couldn't be summoned back at all.

Even though it tried to escape from the two of them, the omnipresent Banshees were always able to track it down by following its life aura and chase it out.

This game of cat and mouse lasted for a long time.

In the beginning, the Demon hoped to rely on the complicated tunnels and escape to exhaust the enemy's stamina. But its plan was soon proven to be futile.

As an Undead, Enoya didn't know exhaustion at all. On the other hand, Jenn was a Demon. Even the weakest Demons were far stronger than the strongest creatures in the Underdark.

This was also one of the reasons why Demons were the supreme rulers of the Underdark.

"It has nowhere to run."

Zayen noticed this as he once again forced the black monster to flee with a shriek.

As a matter of fact, the Demon consumed more stamina than it imagined.

Not only did it have to avoid Jenn and Enoya's attacks, but it also had to be vigilant of the Banshees that scuttled out of the stone walls from time to time, which left it battered and exhausted.

In fact, if Jenn really wanted to destroy it, he wouldn't have to go through so much trouble.

All he had to do was paralyze the Demon and let his Banshee Guards extract its soul.

However, Jenn didn't do so because it was clearly described in the mission description.

"Do you want treasures?

The Demon hides it in a place where sunlight can never reach. Destroy the Demon and receive your 'rightful' reward. "

The missions issued by the system always had a strange tone, but this was also the charm of the game itself.

Searching for clues from this poetic description was also a test of the player's intelligence. Every single word could contain an unimaginable secret.

As expected, after Jenn and Enoya turned the corner of the tunnel, they easily found the Demon.

At this moment, the Demon was crawling on the stone wall with its arms spread out like a spider.

Beside it were clusters of magic crystals that grew wantonly like weeds. They emitted a gentle radiance that illuminated the depths of the dark tunnel.

The radiance and the glowing fungi on the ceiling reflected each other, creating a strange scenery that only belonged to the underground.

But the most eye-catching thing wasn't the beautiful scenery, but the Demon floating in the air.

It was about five meters tall, and a huge, exposed brain occupied most of its body.

In front of this' brain 'was a sharp beak similar to a parrot.

Ten tentacles hung down from its body and it floated in the air like a large jellyfish.

The Demon from before was obediently crawling not far away from it, baring its fangs at intruders like a guard dog.

It's the Brain Eater!

After seeing the Demon, Jenn immediately knew its true identity.

The Brain-Eater was the most annoying creature in the Underdark, second only to the Spirit-sucker.

It always hid in the dark and used its tentacles to catch creatures that were alone. Then, it would suck their brains and inject a liquid into the empty brain of the unlucky prey.

Then, it could turn the prey into its most loyal slaves.

Just like that pug.

Jenn was now sure that the unlucky Gray Dwarves had rashly opened the secret chamber and awakened the Brain-Eater.

Faced with a feast that was delivered to its doorstep, the Brain-Eater naturally accepted it without hesitation.

No wonder the tomb looked so simple. Perhaps the entire tomb itself was a trap to lure the greedy tomb robbers.

The creatures of the Underdark had a strong sense of territory. Anyone who trespassed their territory would be executed.

Letting the other party pass would only show their weakness and incompetence.

Judging from the earlier scene, the Clawed Terror should be the guards controlled by the Brain-Eater, which explained why it could annihilate a group of fully-armored Gray Dwarves without batting an eyelid.

The Brain-Eater wanted to repeat the same trick on Verna, but it didn't expect a powerful Mage to be present, which led to its current awkward situation.

But to both sides, it didn't matter.

"Attack!"

After sweeping a glance at the Brain-Eater, Jenn gave a decisive command.

He made a few hand gestures in midair and a dazzling scarlet radiance shone once again.

Shortly after, a ball of flames emerged before Jenn and transformed into three fiery snakes that pounced on the Brain-Eater with their bloody mouths wide open.

To the Brain Eater, lightning and paralysis were completely ineffective.

Only flames could pose enough of a threat to it.

Facing Jenn's sudden attack, the Brain-Eater was startled. However, its reaction wasn't slow either. As the fiery snakes flew toward it, the Brain-Eater widened its mouth and let out a sharp shriek.

Shortly after, the air before it rippled and a transparent barrier unfolded in midair in an attempt to stop Jenn's attack.

But it wasn't as easy as the Brain-Eater thought. During his years in the Underdark World, Jenn learned a lot. He knew how to manipulate his magical powers and how to release them in the appropriate places.

Therefore, after witnessing the Brain-Eater's barrier, Jenn remained calm. He stared at the enormous monster and spread open his right fingers.

Following Zayen's movement, the three whistling and dancing fire snakes immediately dispersed as if they had received some kind of command.

They bypassed the invisible barrier like living creatures and crashed into the Brain-Eater's massive body.

The flames began to wreak havoc and the Brain-Eater swung its tentacles to lash out at everything around it due to the intense pain.

It opened its mouth and let out a deadly roar. The invisible sound waves roared and formed into a rotating drill that charged at Jenn.

However, Jenn wouldn't just stand there and be a target. After releasing the flames, he quickly moved away from his original position and brushed past the sound waves released by the Brain-Eater.

At this moment, in order to protect its master, the pitch-black monster shrieked and attacked Jenn again.

But unfortunately, before it could reach Jenn, it was whipped into the corner by Enoya and couldn't stand up anymore.

The flames from the Underdark World dealt considerable damage to the Brain-Eater, but it wasn't enough to completely destroy it.

At this moment, the Brain-Eater began to struggle and retreated. Its tentacles stabbed deep into the ground.

Then, as the ground bulged, huge Clawed Terror emerged from within.

It seemed like these were the Brain-Eater's true guards.

But to Jenn, these Clawed Terror were tough to deal with.

But he couldn't be bothered to care about his enemies.

Their brains had been devoured by the Brain-Eater and they had become its puppets. As long as the Brain-Eater was eliminated, these Clawed Terror would be finished!

At this thought, Jenn pushed up his spectacles and quickly gave an order through the spiritual link.

"— — — —!"

At the next moment, along with the ice-cold screams of death, the banshees' translucent bodies appeared out of thin air and pounced on their enormous prey.
