Dark Ruler - Chapter37

Things happened too quickly.

Before Elyse could recover from the dazzling white light, he saw the armored warriors striding forward and fighting with the Goblins.

They brandished the swords and shields in their hands and slaughtered the Goblins effortlessly.

The Goblins obviously didn't expect that someone would ambush them here. In their panic, they didn't last long before they screamed and fled.

Until then, Elise was relieved and carefully sized up the people in front of her.

They were wearing standard armor and heavy helmets, holding steel shields and swords in their hands. There were some strange patterns engraved on them that looked like badges.

There were about a dozen people in front of Elise. Apart from four to five fully armored warriors, Elise also saw a middle-aged man in white armor holding a flail in his hand, as well as three people in leather armor with bows and arrows on their backs and daggers in their hands.

They were dressed neatly and it was obvious that they were from the same organization.

After chasing away the Goblins, they immediately formed a defensive formation and approached Elise while vigilantly watching their surroundings. But in fact, Elise didn't want them to get so close.

Not only that, but after seeing them, Elise immediately raised her guard.

Because these people gave her a very bad feeling …

"Miss, are you alright?"

Shortly after, the Goblins were chased away. At this moment, one of the Goblins removed his helmet and revealed a shrewd and capable face. He gazed at Elise with a radiant smile.

The first thing that came out of his mouth was fluent common language. Hearing his words, Elyse's heart immediately sank. She was now almost certain of the other party's true identity.

This is a group of humans.

"No, I'm not hurt … Thank you …"

Elyse lowered his head and said softly.

She had a soft face to begin with, and coupled with her current situation of being alone, it was very easy for her to attract the goodwill of others.

Upon seeing Elise's reaction, the Warrior revealed a gentle expression.

"Don't worry, with us here, these underground creatures won't hurt you.

Beautiful lady, may I know your name?

And, which team do you belong to? "

"This …"

"Please wait a moment, my lord."

Just as Elyse was hesitating about what to say, the man in the white robe suddenly walked over.

He stared at Elyse, carefully sizing her up from head to toe as if he was carefully examining her. Feeling the man's gaze, Elyse lowered his head, but he couldn't help but bite his lips in anger.

The way that the man looked at her was not evil, but there was an indescribable strange and uncomfortable feeling.

However, the other party apparently did not notice Elyse's displeasure. On the contrary, he just raised a badge in his left hand and praised loudly. Then, the badge emitted a pure white brilliance that wrapped Elyse in it.

The dazzling light made Elyse squint her eyes. At the same time, magical energy began to condense in her palm, ready to go at any moment. It seemed like this guy was the one who created the white light.

After shining on Elise for a few seconds, the man put away the badge in his hand and nodded to the warrior beside him.

"She's clean, my lord. She's not part of those evil underground creatures."

"Of course I know."

Hearing the man's words, the warrior was a little unhappy, but he still nodded to Elyse apologetically.

On the other hand, Elyse's gaze changed slightly. She lowered her head and didn't say anything more.

But seeing Elyse's expression, the warrior also felt a little apologetic. He hesitated for a moment and finally said with a bitter smile.

"I'm sorry, Miss. You also know that the Underdark isn't like our world. It's really dangerous here … Come to think of it, where are the others?

Why are you here alone?

Can you tell us what's going on?

Maybe we can help you. "

"I-I don't know."

Elyse could only vaguely answer these people. She just shook her head and said a few words without any head or tail.

"I just kept running, running …"

"Do you remember which way you ran back?"

"This … I don't remember."

"I see. Please come with us. We happen to be returning to the stronghold, so we can take care of each other along the way. This is too deep into the Underdark … But then again, you're really lucky. We encountered a group of evil gray dwarves here. If we weren't vigilant, we might have fallen into their trap …"

Hearing the warrior's incessant speech, Elyse didn't say anything on the surface, but her bright eyes flashed with a strange brilliance. Obviously, the murderer of these gray dwarves had been found.

"Captain …!"

Just when the warrior was about to say something to Elyse, suddenly, another person's voice came from not far away. This made him turn his head and look in the direction of the voice.

"What's wrong, what did you find …"

But the warrior didn't finish his sentence because at this moment, Elyse made his move.

The young lady just snorted softly, and the next moment, an incomparably strong bright red demonic flame erupted from her delicate body and swept towards the warrior in front of her.

The warrior didn't even have time to react before he was immediately engulfed by the demonic flame and fell to the ground with a scream.

"You …!"

This scene shocked the others, but Elyse naturally wouldn't let go of this opportunity that she had seized with great difficulty.

She raised her right hand, and a dark red, cold, and negative energy ray immediately penetrated the body of the middle-aged priest in the white robe, sealing the incantation that he hadn't finished chanting completely in the other end of death.

The fire of death from the inside out scorched his internal organs and erupted from his eyes, mouth, and nose, wreaking havoc in everything.

All of this happened almost at the same time, so much so that the other members didn't even figure out what happened at this moment.

They couldn't imagine how the young girl they had just rescued could transform into a terrifying God of Death so quickly.

But now there was no time to think about this because Elyse had launched an all-out attack on them.

As a high-order mage, Elyse's strength was unquestionable. Previously in the underground city, it was only because of the natural restraints that she couldn't use her strength.

But now, facing these living people, she didn't have the slightest intention of being polite.

Elyse's eyes swept around and she stomped her feet gently. Soon, demonic flames sprayed out from the feet of the bandits and enveloped them.

At the same time, Elyse's hands weren't idle either. Her fair and delicate fingers drew a gorgeous circle in the air, followed by dozens of dark red magic missiles flying out and hitting the remaining warriors like a storm.

Sparks splashed everywhere, and the burning flames became more vigorous and connected with each other.

In just the blink of an eye, everyone who was standing there fell to the ground. They either died in the demonic flames or were still struggling in pain, but they weren't far from death. The demonic flames weren't ordinary flames. They were completely a collection of negative energy. No matter how it was released, the effect was no different from a finger of death to those who were hit.

"Demon!!"

In the flames, only one warrior escaped the disaster. Perhaps because he was protected by his companions, he didn't suffer much damage.

It was precisely because of this that he was able to dodge Elyse's attack and launch a counterattack against her while shouting angrily.

The warrior's speed was fast. The trajectory of the sword was simple, direct, and swift, reflecting the crystallization of a battle-hardened warrior.

There was no distance between him and Elyse, and this sword could slash the opponent's body without any hindrance. Elyse apparently didn't have enough time to chant the next protective spell.

Perhaps she didn't need it.

Kacha.

Along with a soft sound, Elyse's extended right hand easily clamped the blade of the down-slashing longsword.

Although the warrior seemed to have exerted all his strength, the sword didn't move at all. The slender, fair fingers were like a tiger's pincers, restricting the opponent's further movements.

"D-Damn it!

You monster!! "

Sensing the terrifying power, the warrior screamed.

But Elyse's movements were faster than he imagined. She flipped her fingers and in the blink of an eye, the sharp and hard sword was broken. Then, Elyse flicked her fingers gently and a shining, cold light pierced the warrior's throat. The poor man reached out his hand and grasped his throat in despair. He stared at Elyse with widened eyes and opened his mouth to say something. But then, he fell to the ground headfirst and never moved again.

"Phew …"

At this moment, Elyse let out a long sigh of relief. She swept a glance at the warrior's corpse on the ground and flung her robe. Soon, flames sprang out from her sleeves and pounced on the warrior's corpse. Not long after, the corpse was burned into a pile of pitch-black dust and there was no more movement.

But Elyse's expression didn't become relaxed because of this. She slowly walked to another pile of dust and reached out to pick up something that was buried within. After observing it carefully, Elyse's expression changed. She shook her head and turned toward another tunnel in the cave.

No matter what, this matter must be reported to the underground city lord as soon as possible!
