"It's been a few centuries. We're finally reunited."
Six lonely stone chairs towered high in the mountain. Light shone on them from top to bottom. But at this moment, apart from Leoric, the other five chairs were occupied by … Elders of the Parliament.
The Undead Parliament didn't have a strict hierarchy. Apart from the few Elders, there weren't many leaders like Saville in the entire Undead Parliament. Come to think of it, it was strange that these inconspicuous fellows were able to strike fear into the entire continent despite the fact that there were only over 30 higher-ups in the Undead Parliament. From another aspect, this proved the strength and influence of the six of them.
Leoric's voice was a little hoarse, but it carried an undeniable might. It was as though he was a born monarch, and no one could question his words.
"Leoric, can't you change your tone?"
The six stone chairs were arranged in a circle, but there was some distance between them. However, the voice of the man sitting opposite Leoric could be heard clearly by everyone. He was gorgeously dressed and had a handsome face. At a glance, one could tell that he was a classic lady-killer. He looked to be in his thirties, and his aqua-blue eyes looked at Leoric as he spoke with a hint of mockery.
It was a casual tone, but it also made one feel that this young fellow wasn't a simple character. To put it bluntly, who here was a simple character?
As a tenth-grade Alchemist and tenth-grade Ice Archmage, Nos Davion didn't just have outstanding strength. More importantly, he was a dragon!
Or rather, a dragon that had become an Undead Creature.
"Why did you call me here?"
Her voice was gentle, but there was a hint of dissatisfaction in it. Her purple hair was graying at the roots, and her pointy ears were sticking out. Shavi Freyman sat on the comfortable stone chair and asked Leoric with a straight posture.
She was wearing a priestess robe of the elves, but the style of the robe was very old. It was obvious that it was no longer the robe used by the elves nowadays. However, this beautiful elf still looked youthful, but her eyes were dead. Her skin was silvery white, which was less lustrous than Sylner's. Her skin was a bit dry, which made people feel uncomfortable.
Her tone wasn't very friendly, but Leoric didn't mind. He looked at the other three who didn't speak much. He knew that the three old fellows didn't like to talk nonsense, so he straightened his body and thought about how to start the conversation.
Beside Leoric was a fellow who looked no different from a farmer. He looked very ordinary, with light blond hair hanging on both sides of his face. His gaze was focused on the abyss-like void beneath his feet, and the golden sunlight shone directly on him. Kostela Viv. His broad shoulders indicated his identity as a professional, and his slightly crooked legs indicated that he was, or was, a knight.
The other person looked a little strange. He was dressed in black, and his identity as an assassin could be verified by the dagger on his waist. However, if one looked closely, this guy's dagger seemed to be of poor quality, and it even had no luster.
Dustin Colin, a tenth-grade assassin.
"I'm in a hurry, Leoric. Keep it short."
Finally, the plump man spoke. He wore an armor that emanated powerful magical waves. The stone chair he was sitting on was also decorated with gold, silver, and jewelry. The weapon in his hand was glowing brightly. In short, there was nothing on him that wasn't priceless. This man indeed had the capital to buy or use these things … Because his name was Quel 'tos Salavi, the General Manager of Quel' tos Trading Company.
The six elders of the Undead Council had different identities and races, but the significance of them gathering together was self-evident.
"The operation of the Wheel of Fortune has been somewhat disrupted," Leoric said. "But Saville has already dealt with this matter. I believe that everyone here would not wish to see anything obstructing our progress on this continent."
"I'd like to see."
As a member of the Dragon race, Dawian interjected disdainfully. As someone with extraordinary strength, he didn't seem to be interested in anything. However, he had the qualifications to do so. Among everyone present, in terms of strength, he was the number one.
Leoric didn't respond to his interruption. He paused for a moment before continuing, "I've already fixed these things. The old man in the Empire of Saint Reims is willing to work with me on this matter, so there's no room for choice."
"The old man in Saint-Rames?" Xia Wei narrowed her eyes. "Why did you think of working with him?
That eccentric fellow … "
"The strong are respected. This can't be helped. Besides, in some ways, I have to do the same as him."
Leoric dominated the rhythm of the conversation. Unlike the Noble Council of Saint-Rames, few in the Undead Council were willing to express their opinions.
"But next, I have a new suggestion. Perhaps this is a good way for us to get to the front stage."
"Get out of here. Don't keep me guessing. You always use so many insignificant adjectives."
Dawian's mouth was still wide open. He seemed to be rather impatient with Leoric, but there was no sarcasm in his tone. It seemed like he was just grumbling teasingly.
Leoric still didn't respond. He looked at the silent assassin Dustin and the knight Kostela, and said, "The Abyss is willing to provide us with assistance."
"I object."
As soon as he finished speaking, the knight who had his head lowered immediately objected. Kostela was dressed in coarse linen clothes and looked rather dispirited. However, his words were sonorous and forceful, and they echoed in the empty mountain.
"I object, Leoric. Have you gone mad?"
Xia Wei's voice was gentle, but it was a little high-pitched at that moment. It was obvious that she was agitated. As the high priestess of the elves, she had fallen at the hands of the Abyss. That painful memory was something she would never forget.
"Two votes against." Leoric ignored the doubts of the two and turned to look at the other three.
The assassin Dustin waved his hand and said nothing. His face was hidden under a black veil, as if he couldn't even be bothered to say a word.
"I abstain."
Leoric turned to Quel 'tos.
"This is a good opportunity to make money, but a good merchant won't do business that will put his life on the line." Quel 'tos narrowed his eyes. He looked like a bearded man, but when he narrowed his eyes, one would think that he was the head of the largest trading company in the entire continent. His shrewd eyes stared at Leoric. "War may be a reason that can't be rejected, because it always brings more wealth, isn't it?"
"One vote in favor."
Leoric looked at Dawian expressionlessly.
"Finally, we can have some fun."
The Dragon stretched his back and stood up from his stone chair. Then, he replied in a somewhat lazy voice.
"The resolution is passed."
Leoric looked at Xia Wei and Kostela. The two did not show any emotion after his objection was ineffective, as though they had expected this result. Xia Wei rubbed her brows and looked up at the sky under the sunlight, as though she was deep in thought. Kostela, on the other hand, maintained his original posture and did not move. After hearing Leoric's words, he said quietly, "Knights, heed your command."
A qualified general, but not a qualified commander.
"The emissary of the Abyss will be here in a few days. Let's welcome our guest then."
Leoric's words ended the meeting. The sunlight on the mountaintop seemed to be blocked by something, and everything fell into darkness again. The elders on the stone chairs disappeared the next moment.
