Juliana's Workshop - Chapter165

Julius and Rei fell into the lake, and the water went over their heads.

When Rei first entered the water, she felt a little uncomfortable and didn't even open her eyes.

After a while, she found that there was no problem with her breathing. She plucked up the courage to open her eyes and saw Julius who was also falling into the water.

The lake water didn't affect her eyes, but the colors in her vision were a little strange. It looked like an illusion, and there were many bubbles — those bubbles came from her and Julius's noses and mouths.

Everything in the underwater world was very different from usual. It was an experience that Julius and Rei had never experienced before.

The King's Castle was a seaside city — or rather, a seaside kingdom — but Rei didn't have many opportunities to go to the seaside. Working hard to make a living had consumed most of her energy, so it was impossible for her to go to the port and the wharf.

What's more, those places required the labor of an adult man, not a little girl like her.

Looking at the bubbles coming out of her noses and mouths was an interesting thing for Rei. Looking at Julius on the opposite side, she felt even more wonderful.

It was pitch-black in the lake, which was no different from the surface. They could only see what was around them, and nothing further.

The scenery in the underground lake seemed to be no different from the surface, and the lake water was very cold. Rei reached out her hand to touch her own arm.

The feeling was no different from being stuck to the skin by the cold and damp air, except that the air had turned into liquid, which was equally cold.

Rei lowered her head and looked at Lulunaka, who had jumped into the underground lake earlier than her and Julius.

Lurunaka's head was not facing this way. Her feet were facing Rei.

She dived deeper into the lake with her head down, and didn't pay attention to Julius and Rei behind her.

Seeing Lulunaka's posture, Julius and Rei began to adjust their bodies to follow Lulunaka in a more comfortable posture.

It was indeed a bit uncomfortable to continue falling with a lost footing, but it felt much better if it was similar to swimming.

Luluna became the fish in the lead, followed by Julius and Rei, the two smaller fish.

As they continued to swim downstream, Lulunaka took out two more glass bottles.

This time, the bottle was no longer filled with medicine. Instead, it was filled with a bright fluorescent liquid.

The liquid didn't look like it was meant for humans to drink, and Lulunaka didn't take it out to feed it to anyone, but to use it as a light source.

She left one of them in the water, and the two people behind her bumped into the glass bottle.

Even without speaking, Julius understood what he meant. He held the thin bottle in his hand, thought for a moment, and handed the bottle to Rei.

Rei took the bottle and hung it on her waist like Lurunaka had done in front of her.

In this pitch-black underwater world, there was more light, and Julius and Rei saw a completely different scene.

Until now, there was nothing under the underground lake, only darkness. But now, because of the illumination, the dark world had completely changed.

In this wonderful world, everything was floating because it was filled with water. The broken objects that could not be identified with their former appearance and function were floating in the water as if time had stopped.

These small objects were indeed no longer moving, but the living things were still moving.

Beside the three of them, there were many fishes swimming. These fishes had a set of bone-chilling teeth. The rows of teeth were dense and sharp, and when they were opened, they were even larger than their bodies.

Julius and Rei knew what kind of fishes they were. These strange fishes didn't eat things like steel, but as long as they could chew, they would eat them. If they bit flesh … that tender and juicy flesh would be chewed up in a short while.

What scared Julius and Rei so much that they held their breaths was that there were more than one or two strange fish. Around them, there were so many of them that they formed a moving wall, surrounding the three of them.

Even their mouths were facing the three of them, opening and closing their mouths as they swam.

Even in the water, Julius and Rei felt like they could hear the sound of teeth gnashing.

The only fortunate thing was that these strange fishes didn't really rush over and devour them.

But that didn't make Julius and Rei feel at ease.

As for Lulunaka, who was in front of them, she didn't react at all, as if the school of fishes around her didn't exist.

Julius looked at the school of fishes around him, and then at Rei, who was restless beside him.

He found that Rei's eyes had begun to change again. Her left eye seemed to have been painted with paint, and the other half of her eye was shining. He could also see that half of her pupil was vertical, but the other half was no different from an ordinary eye.

He didn't know why Rei had such a pair of snake eyes, but at least he knew one thing: Rei's eyes would turn into snake eyes due to some kind of stimulus — perhaps a life and death crisis, or fear, or both.

But these were all Julius's guesses.

Julius thought for a while, then looked at the school of fishes around him.

He closed his eyes, and began to recall the battle with the devil just now.

That battle with his life on the line made Julius understand a lot of things. Those things seemed to be in his heart, in his body's memory. Because he had walked on the edge of death, these things were boiled by the fire, and finally "poured" into his brain.

He closed his eyes, and followed Lulunaka with his senses. His heart gradually calmed down, and even his heartbeat became clearer. The trembling of his heart became louder and louder, forcefully knocking on his eardrums.

Julius's body was covered with a layer of pale green light, which made Rei, who was beside him, show a surprised expression.

The light wasn't obvious, but it turned into particles and scattered around him, leaving behind a trail of light.

These weak light particles were like stars in the water, leaving behind a starry sky behind him.

This starry sky drove away the school of fishes.

The bloodthirsty school of fishes no longer swam around Julius, but scattered, leaving only one or two scattered around.

For Julius and Rei, the underwater world was so wonderful.
