Julius met Rei at one of the docks in the harbor.
Rei had a basket on her arm and was sitting on the edge, eating a piece of bread in her hand.
Her legs were moving on the water, and ripples spread out from her toes.
The place she was at was relatively far away from the harbor, so no ships passed by or came in, and the big ships could not stop at her place.
No one passed by her. She was the only one sitting there alone.
Julius came over, and Rei turned her head and saw Julius. "You came so early."
Rei said to Julius with a piece of bread in her mouth. It seemed that she was living a good life now. She was no longer dirty, and she was eating good bread that she could not eat normally.
Julius came to her side and sat down beside her. There was no boat here, so the two of them did not need to worry about whether they would disturb others.
"It seems that you have adapted to your new home."
"How can you tell that I have adapted?"
Rei sighed, "If I was used to it, I wouldn't be here … But I'm not slacking off, I'm working hard."
She raised her arm and showed Julius the basket in her arms. There were some bread stacked together in it. "I'm slacking off here after delivering breakfast to someone else."
Julius thought that it was still laziness, but since Rei was doing her job well, it seemed that there was no problem.
That Master Balik probably wouldn't give Rei heavy work. Although Lurunaka had said that she could be ordered around, the person who spoke and the person who listened shouldn't think the same way.
At least, a tactful businessman like Balik would not do that.
"Master Balik said that he doesn't want a child who doesn't even know how to read.
So I have to learn how to write and count later. "
Rei continued, looking a little tired, "I can be lazy about other things, but this is the only thing I can't avoid."
Julius remembered that when he learned how to read and count, he felt the same as Rei.
"But this is a good thing, right?" Julius said to Rei.
Rei showed a smile on her face, "Yes, this is a happy trouble... Being the child of Master Balik, in this King's Castle, there is probably no one luckier than me."
Hearing Rei's tone, Julius knew that Rei was not fooled by the words of "employment", and had figured out the truth in a short time.
But looking at her now, even if she knew that she was "cheated", she probably would not have any more opinions, let alone escape.
Julius only knew that Balik was a very rich businessman, and he was able to deal with Lulu, and he looked quite happy — Julius could never be that relaxed and happy.
As for Rei, she was beside Balik, and she was a resident of the King's King's Castle, she knew and understood more things than Julius.
"It feels like a dream. When I wake up, I might be lying in that shabby hut in Rat Tunnel, and nothing happened.
Even the fact that I met you might be fake, "Rei continued.
Julius patted Rei's head, "It's not a dream."
"Of course it's not a dream, you've made my head hurt."
Rei smiled and pushed away Julius's hand, "I don't have much time to slack off. If you want to visit me, it's not a good time.
What have you been doing recently? "
Julius thought for a while and found that he had returned to his idle state.
Since Rei had left Rat Tunnel, Julius didn't plan to return to that place. As for the underground, he didn't plan to do so for the time being.
When he recalled his last adventure in the underground, his heart palpitated. If it weren't for luck and all sorts of coincidences, as well as the bad luck of those hostile Black Robes, he and Rei might have died down there.
It was something that happened not long ago, but now it felt like something that happened a long time ago. When he recalled it, it felt like he was reminiscing about the distant past.
However, now was not the time for him to reminisce. Rei elbowed Zhang Heng's abdomen, "If you have nothing to do, you can come here and help. I heard from Master Balik that the harbor will never lack people, even if it's just some heavy labor."
This was a choice, but it was not Julius's priority.
He didn't think that he wasn't suitable for heavy labor, nor did he have any psychological barriers. However, he had some concerns. Balik and Lulunaka were familiar with each other. He felt that working under Balik was like working under Lulunaka, which made him feel a little uncomfortable.
"If I really can't find anything else to do, I'll think about it," Julius said to Rei.
Rei didn't eagerly hope that Julius would make a decision. She just nodded and didn't force Julius.
When Rei mentioned this, Julius suddenly found that he seemed to have lost his purpose in life.
Now that he had some money, he could afford his daily expenses. However, Lulunaka didn't seem to want to force him to go out and earn money for his meals. If he went back, he could at least have a hot meal.
Regardless of whether this meant that Lulunaka didn't want to torture him anymore, Rei had also left the Rat Path and didn't want to live in that chaotic place anymore. He didn't need to work so hard anymore.
Until he said goodbye to Rei and left the port, Julius was still thinking about this problem.
Then he thought about it for the whole day. What could he do now?
When he returned to the shop, it was already dusk.
As soon as Julius stepped into the shop, he heard the sound of donkeys in the backyard and Lulunaka's laughter. "Such fat animals, they are the best coolies."
Pasta was still sitting behind the counter. Julius looked at him.
Seeing Julius's eyes, Pasta knew what he wanted to ask. "She spent money to buy two donkeys to pull the carriage."
Hearing Pasta's words, Julius thought of something bad.
Her strange carriage had been in the yard for a long time. Now she suddenly wanted to bring two animals back. Where was she going?
Julius was right. Lulunaka did have plans to go out.
During dinner, everyone arrived. Lulunaka then announced that she was going out.
"I plan to cross the strait and go to another continent to meet some people."
Lulunaka said, looking at Julius and Romuona. "Of course, you two have to come with me."
