Juliana's Workshop - Chapter33

While Lulunaka was treating Toursse's wounds, Padding and Olga kept glancing at Toursse's wounds.

Their gazes weren't direct or frequent, but Toursse could still detect them.

They sat by the same bonfire, and no matter what they did, they couldn't hide it from others.

"I don't think there's anything interesting about a wound," Toursse said.

Tuis said, "The two of you seem to have experienced a lot, but your reactions are similar to some of the new recruits I've trained.

Why? "

Toursse was indeed curious.

He had trained many new recruits, and most of them only had experience fighting on the streets. Some of them hadn't even seen blood before.

These new recruits, after going through the first battle, would either undergo a drastic change, die on the battlefield, or leave the team and return home to tremble in fear.

After a battle, there would always be people who needed to treat their wounds. This was another test for the new recruits.

Being injured was not a good thing, either for the injured person or for those who saw it. The injured person would suffer both mental and physical pain, while those who saw the open and festering wound would suffer both psychological and hygienic discomfort.

It wasn't strange for new recruits to feel pain and discomfort when they saw their own wounds or other people's wounds.

If it was someone else's wound, some people would feel discomfort and fear, but they would also feel curious or excited.

This wasn't strange at all. Animals would become beastly when they saw blood, and humans, whether they were mortals, elves, dwarves, or other ancient races, were all animals. They were just smarter animals.

And when such "animals" saw blood for the first time, they would always have all kinds of emotions and feelings, whether good or bad.

However, this obviously didn't apply to Padding and Olga.

Tuis didn't think that Padin and Olga had been training in the academy or the manor for more than ten years before they came out. Their eyes and movements made them look like seasoned warriors, not newbies.

People like them shouldn't pay too much attention to a wound, especially one from a stranger.

When Toursse asked about this, Padding and Olga didn't feel awkward or unnatural.

Olga spoke first, "This is an arrow wound, right?"

Olga was an old man with white hair and beard, but he still had a pair of clear and sharp eyes. Toursse was a little surprised by this.

"Yes, you can see it?"

Olga didn't answer immediately. He seemed to think for a while before continuing, "Other than some strange weapons, only an arrow can cause such a wound.

You're quite lucky. The arrow … grazed the bone.

If the bone isn't broken, it'll heal. "

"You can see so many things?

I didn't expect that. "

Tuis was even more shocked. He could see so much from the small hole where the blood had congealed into a black lump.

Could it be that this was the experience that only the elders had?

Olga shook his head. He seemed to have something else to say, but he didn't say it in the end.

When Olga didn't say anything else, Padding took over and spoke to Toursse.

"Your robe is torn. Looks like it was a fierce battle."

If Toursse wasn't mistaken, Padding was referring to the torn cloth on his armor.

The front of the robe was tattered beyond recognition. Only the back was still intact. This made the robe look like a ragged cape of a scavenger.

The front of the robe was torn, revealing the armor underneath.

On the breastplate, there was a tattered insignia.

The insignia on the robe and armor were proof of which army Toursse belonged to.

As for now, the tattered robe and tattered insignia couldn't prove which army he belonged to or which army he used to belong to.

Their robes were torn apart and their badges were scraped off in battle. This was a humiliation to Tuis and his troops, but it was a blessing for Tuis now.

The invincible army was gone. Only humiliation and defeat were left.

Toursse used to be a part of the army, but now, he probably didn't belong to the army anymore. Perhaps the army didn't exist anymore, and as a part of the army, he didn't exist anymore.

There was only one deserter here who wanted to escape death and the battlefield. His name was Toursse.

This wasn't something Toursse wanted to talk about. The tattered robe and insignia were a good thing because they could help him avoid unnecessary gazes.

The news of his defeat hadn't reached the King's Castle yet, so he could return to his family and protect them before the King's Castle fell into chaos.

When he reached the edge of the forest and left this dangerous place, he would take off his armor and robe and bury himself in the forest. He would bury himself as a soldier here with his troops and his legion.

If he could return to the King's Castle safely, perhaps he would consider leaving this country with his family.

Before that, in this temporary resting place, Tuis noticed that a man named Padin seemed to be curious about his identity.

This wasn't something Toursse wanted to see.

"You belong to the army of the Double Eagle Empire, right?" Padding asked, but his tone didn't seem to be convinced.

Toursse wanted to deny it, but in such a turbulent time, it was too absurd to say that he wasn't a soldier of the Double Eagle Empire. No one would believe such a lie.

Even though his robe and insignia had been destroyed, he was undoubtedly a soldier of the Empire. There was no other possibility, unless he was a traitor or a spy.

No matter which identity it was, it was harder for him to accept than being a deserter.

In the end, Toursse nodded and admitted to Padding's words.

"Yes, I'm a soldier of the Empire, but …"

Lulunaka interrupted him. "Of course you're a soldier of the Double Eagle Empire. No matter who asks, no matter what you answer, the truth is the same.

To me, it's enough to know that you're a friendly soldier of the Empire. As for the other things, they might be important, but to travelers like us, they're just stories that belong to this place, not us.

Didn't you say that you don't want your secret to be exposed?

I think it's better to stick to it, rather than letting someone pry open the box. "At this time, Lurunaka had re-bandaged his wound.

Tuis had to admit that the feeling of having his wound cleaned with clean water and wrapped with a clean and soft cloth was much better than having to do it himself. It seemed that Lurunaka wasn't lying. She really had a good way of dealing with wounds.

Lulunaka tied a knot in the cloth and continued, "Look at the people sitting here. Apart from you, no one else has the features of a soldier of the Empire.

As long as they're not blind, they can tell that you're not a soldier of the Empire. "

"As for me, my eyesight isn't good. I might not be able to tell," Olga said.

Rather than saying that he had bad eyesight, it sounded more like he was trying to find a way out for them and Tuis. No one here would care about his identity, and no one would be interested in his secrets or have any ill intentions towards him.

At this moment, Padin didn't continue asking Tuis. He knew when to stop and didn't say anything else.

Toursse was happy to see this. He was grateful that Lulunaka had helped him out of this predicament.

After hearing Lulunaka's words, Toursse looked at the people around him.

No matter if it was Olga or Padding, he could tell that they weren't his compatriots just by looking at their appearances.

The natives of Yilan Continent liked to braid part of their hair, and Olga was no exception. As for Padding, Toursse believed that he was from a country in the North or the West. This made Toursse a little curious about Padding's identity.

Toursse couldn't see the two children sitting in front of the bonfire clearly, but he didn't think that they were soldiers of the Empire. If that was the case, it would be too strange.

As for Lulunaka, Toursse couldn't figure out where she came from.

She didn't look like a soldier of the Empire, but Toursse couldn't tell where she came from.

The girl with the smile wasn't ugly, but she gave off an ordinary feeling. There were no distinctive features.

She was a strange girl, but she was very friendly.

Toursse thought for a while and realized that this was the only way he could describe Lulunaka. He couldn't find any other words to describe her.
