Outside of Time - Chapter25

Xu Qing's eyes widened when he heard this.

His breathing quickened as he felt his mind rumble. It was his dream to be able to enter the tent and listen to the lecture. He took a deep breath and bowed deeply to the tent.

"Thank you, Master!"

Xu Qing was very serious when he said these words.

After a long time, he stood up and left the tent.

On this day, he didn't see Master Bai when he turned around, but he heard Master Bai criticizing the young man and woman in the tent.

Xu Qing didn't pay attention to this. He was overwhelmed with excitement.

When he returned to his residence, he immediately reported this to Lei Dui. Lei Dui was pleasantly surprised, especially when he saw how happy Xu Qing was. His smile widened and he sighed in his heart.

Although this child in front of him didn't tell him why he frequently went to the forbidden zone, Lei Dui knew that he was looking for the Heaven's Mandate Flower.

In this cold world, how could he not cherish such an affectionate and righteous child who had saved his life? It was just that he could not bear to see Xu Qing, who was exhausted every time he returned.

Seeing that Xu Qing was happy, Lei Dui was also very happy. Therefore, on that day, Lei Dui cooked a sumptuous dinner for Xu Qing. During that time, he constantly reminded him to respect his teacher and be respectful to Master Bai and so on. Xu Qing earnestly remembered each and every one of them in his heart.

After dinner, Xu Qing returned to his room. He was still in a state of excitement.

Thinking about how he would be able to listen to the lecture in the tent tomorrow, Xu Qing couldn't sleep while looking forward to it.

While worrying about his gains and losses, he suddenly remembered the scene when he and the other children first met the teacher in the slums.

He opened his leather pouch and took out a relatively new one. He placed most of his spirit coins and many of his white pills inside.

In Xu Qing's mind, knowledge was priceless. It didn't matter if he gave away all of his savings.

However, he had to consider Lei Dui's side, so he kept half.

After doing this, he let out a long sigh and silently closed his eyes. He began to cultivate and wait for dawn.

This night was a little long for Xu Qing.

When the sun rose, Xu Qing changed into a new set of clothes, washed his hands, and walked out of his room.

Just as he was about to leave, he was stopped by Captain Lei, who had never woken up early.

Xu Qing nodded patiently and listened carefully. Finally, Lei Dui helped Xu Qing tidy up his clothes and handed him a leather bag.

"You can't go in empty-handed."

"I do," Xu Qing said softly.

Captain Lei glared at him, but when he saw the determination in Xu Qing's eyes, he put away the leather bag and went back to his room to take out a pot of wine.

"I know about Master Bai. He likes to drink. Bring him over."

This time, Xu Qing didn't refuse. He took the wine jug and left the courtyard. After a few steps, he turned back and waved at Lei Dui, who was standing there, before sprinting towards Grandmaster Bai's tent.

Looking at Xu Qing's back, Captain Lei smiled.

"This child, I didn't see him this happy when we were distributing the Seven Leaf Grass."

With mixed emotions of joy and anxiety, Xu Qing came to the place where he had been standing for the past month. He took a deep breath and knocked on the door of the tent.

"Come in."

Hearing Grandmaster Bai's voice, Xu Qing lowered his head to check his clothes. He tugged hard at his lapels to make them look neater before slowly opening the door.

Other than the guards, he saw Grandmaster Bai and the young man and woman sitting inside the tent.

When Xu Qing looked at them, they looked back at him.

Compared to Grandmaster Bai's calm expression, the young man and woman's expressions were much more varied. The young man called Chen Feiyuan was unconvinced while the young woman, Tingyu, was more curious.

Xu Qing retracted his gaze and bowed deeply to Grandmaster Bai. Then, he took out the leather bag and wine jug that he had prepared. He imitated what he did in the slums and handed them over with both hands.

Xu Qing, who didn't look up, didn't see Grandmaster Bai's calm gaze become gentler.

Grandmaster Bai didn't take the leather bag, only the wine jug. He took a sip in front of Xu Qing, as though it was some kind of ritual.

"Let's start class," Grandmaster Bai said slowly after putting down the wine jug.

Tingyu and Chen Feiyuan were compared to Xu Qing. Clearly, they had done their homework last night. Their answers were straightforward and they immediately looked at Xu Qing after answering.

Xu Qing didn't look at them. Instead, he looked at Grandmaster Bai and answered his questions one by one. After answering them thoroughly, Grandmaster Bai nodded and started the class.

Xu Qing listened very seriously. He cherished the opportunity to enter the tent and didn't get distracted at all.

Chen Feiyuan and Tingyu were the same. This made Grandmaster Bai smile a little.

Just like that, another ten days passed. Xu Qing had gotten used to the class in the tent, but his seriousness didn't decrease at all. The knowledge he gained also increased.

However, compared to him, Chen Feiyuan returned to his usual self in a few days. Only Tingyu was still competing with Xu Qing.

However, after class, the two talked more. Most of the time, it was Tingyu inquiring about life in the camp. Xu Qing was a man of few words and only gave a few simple answers.

As for Chen Feiyuan, he wasn't convinced of Xu Qing's superiority and didn't say much.

Xu Qing didn't care about this. He wasn't good at socializing, so every time after class, he would go to the forbidden area as soon as possible. The reason why Xu Qing went to the forbidden area every day was because of plants.

Before he understood plants, all the plants in the forbidden area were the same in his eyes. But now, it was different.

Xu Qing would often find herbs that he didn't know about. Every time he made a discovery, his understanding of plants would deepen.

However, Xu Qing slowly discovered that most of the herbs in the forbidden area were Yin Evil Herbs. There weren't many Yin Yang Herbs.

So his research on herbs was focused on poisons from the very beginning.

As he harvested the poisonous herbs, he built a simple house in the small canyon and used it as a pharmacy to research them.

With his constitution that could dissolve poisons, Xu Qing was very bold in his research on poisonous herbs. After experimenting with various combinations, he finally came up with an unknown poison.

This venom was a mixture of eight types of poisonous herbs, snake venom, and these nine types of substances were added into the mix.

The poison contained a strong corrosive effect. Xu Qing tested it and found that a drop of it could turn a mutated beast's corpse into a pool of blood in five breaths.

But it was only so fast on corpses. If it was a living creature, for some reason, the time would be much longer.

Even so, Xu Qing was very satisfied with the first poison he had made in his life.

After he dried it and turned it into powder, he named it Corpse Destruction Powder.

As for Yin Yang Herbs, although there weren't many of them, Xu Qing was still able to make some semi-finished medicinal liquids with his Yin and Yang Polarity Technique.

A small portion of it was mixed with Seven Leaf Grass, which had a suppressive effect. Xu Qing had once asked Grandmaster Bai if he could use it with his prescription to have a better effect on Captain Lei.

Grandmaster Bai told him that apart from the Destiny Flower, everything else was useless. And his prescription would eventually lose its effectiveness.

This was indeed the case. Even though Captain Lei took his medicine on time every day, the weakness in his body was visible to the naked eye. Xu Qing saw this and was silent.

One day, when the two of them were eating, Captain Lei wanted to say something, but hesitated. In the end, he told Xu Qing that he didn't think it was suitable for him to stay in the scavenger camp any longer, and that he planned to buy the right to live in a nearby city.

"Child, I know that your path will not stop at this small camp. Your future will be even further, so I won't ask you to come with me to retire."

Xu Qing, who was eating, paused for a moment. After a while, he lowered his head and was silent for a long time before he asked softly, "What is it?"

"Will you come back?"

"Of course, I will come back occasionally."

Captain Lei smiled and raised his hand, touching Xu Qing's head for the first time. He sighed in his heart. He didn't want Xu Qing to risk his life in the jungle of the forbidden zone.

Xu Qing instinctively wanted to avoid it, but when he looked at Captain Lei, he didn't move. This allowed Captain Lei's hand to smoothly land on his head. As he gently stroked it, Captain Lei smiled.

"Besides, you can come and see me at any time."

Hearing this, Xu Qing nodded his head heavily.

That night, Xu Qing opened his eyes many times to look at Captain Lei's room.

It was only a few days later that Xu Qing silently buried this feeling in his heart. Every day, apart from attending Grandmaster Bai's lectures, he spent more time in the forbidden zone, working hard to find the Destiny Flower.

But this flower, as Grandmaster Bai said, could only be found by chance.
