"Yes, someone from the Netherworld Ring guild sent us a live feed of the game. Take a look for yourself …"
Hot and Sour Noodles' voice was low and filled with frustration and helplessness. He sent me a live feed of the game for everyone else.
I clicked on the feed and saw that the sun had risen from the east. After a night of torrential rain, a mountain torrent had broken out of both sides of the canyon and crashed into the China players' camp. Thousands of players were screaming in pain, but there was nothing they could do. They couldn't teleport back to the city while they were in the river, unless they had the stamina to swim to dry land. Unfortunately for them, swimming was incredibly taxing, and they didn't have enough food to last until the end.
The entire Sunset Basin had turned into a sea of water in an instant. Almost 20 million players were struggling in the water, and Cyan Earth City's players were among them. Breeze and Rain was known as God of War's number one Famous General, and he lived up to his reputation. Cyan Earth City had sacrificed at least a few million people just to send the China army to their graves. The players who had chased away Flower Room and the other guilds had perished in the turbulent water as well.
White light flashed, and countless players were suffocating to death. Countless equipment and potions dropped and fell to the bottom of the sea.
… …
It was so tragic that I couldn't watch any longer. I turned off the feed and said to Hot and Sour Noodles, "Uncle, don't be too sad …"
Hot and Sour Noodles shook his head bitterly. "I'm fine, Lu Chen. There are too many players in China, and they don't listen to orders at all. I understand your pain, but there aren't many people I can trust right now. You, Candlelight Shadow, Warsky, and Little Pepper are the only ones I can trust. The future of China's three main cities is in the hands of your guilds."
I smiled. "I know, uncle. I'll be back with Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls' cavalry right away. Fans like to read:!"
"Yeah, Wall of Impassable Lands is riddled with damage these past few hours, and its durability has dropped to 5% or so. One more charge and it'll collapse!"
"Hehe, very good. We'll be back soon!"
"Mn!"
Hot and Sour Noodles smiled and said, "I heard that Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls and Snowy Cathaya were very strong during the battle against Flowing Clouds and Flowing Water. Well done!
Also, even though we suffered a crushing defeat at Sunset Basin, Candlelight Shadow managed to wipe out almost 1.4 million Purple Grape City players at the ruins of Glacier River County. He also managed to wipe out almost 2 million long-range players from Cyan Earth City. Keep up the good work, everyone! "
"Alright!"
I couldn't believe that Candlelight Shadow had killed so many people in Glacier River County. Fuck, are these people going to earn all the Nation War points? Be it in the Great Wall of Despair or the Lost Forest, Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls had to fight ace guilds like God's Domain and Flowing Clouds. Candle Dragon, Warsky Alliance, Soul Battle Robes, Pop Culture, Hall of Immortality, Rose of the Holy Domain and more had to fight second- and third-rate guilds from Cyan Earth City and Purple Grape City. Their strength was on a completely different level, and if we were talking about points alone, we were at a huge disadvantage!
However, he decided to forget about it. He just wanted to have a clear conscience. Just as Li Chengfeng had said, "Some things have to be done by someone!"
… …
A few minutes later, everyone was gathered. Although the Cyan Tiger Cavalrymen had died, the Dragonlight Cavalry hadn't suffered too many casualties. I was a little relieved to see that. We couldn't afford to lose too many Dragonlight Cavalrymen while we were fighting Flowing Clouds, or we wouldn't have a trump card to fight super first-rate guilds like Cyan Beast, God's Domain, Nation Suppression and Dark Cloud!
I unsheathed the Purple Ying Sword and pointed it toward the northeast. Then, I ordered, "Let's move out and continue our assault on Great Wall Impassable. This time, we must destroy this wall in one fell swoop! We can't afford to be tied down by others!"
A group of China riders unsheathed their swords and followed us toward Wall of Despair. The rest of the readers looked at me like normal.
We ran into a lot of Purple Grape City and Elephant City players along the way, but we killed them all easily. The small groups of enemies couldn't pose much of a threat to us at all.
Twenty minutes later, we arrived at the foot of Wall of Despair.
The rain had stopped, and the sun was rising. A golden ray of sunlight shone on the Great Wall, which was full of battle scars. The steel fortress that stood to the southwest of Purple Grape City was full of scars. The Chinese war chariots had smashed many deep pits on the Great Wall. The entire Great Wall was like a wall with countless bullet holes. It was in a precarious situation, and it could collapse at any time.
Boom boom boom...
The White Marsh Chariots and ballistae were still firing indiscriminately, and countless scaling ladders had been erected at the edge of the wall. More than 25% of the wall had been occupied by China players, and both sides were equally matched. No matter how strong Red Maple and God's Domain were, they wouldn't be able to win this battle of attrition. The difference in numbers between the two sides was just too big. Red Maple had used nearly ten million players to hold off tens of millions of China players for more than ten hours, and that was no easy feat.
Squeak … squeak …
Heavy siege tanks were also pushed to the bottom of the city. In front of the siege tanks was a massive, sharp stone awl. As they swayed, they bombarded the city walls. The damage they dealt to the city's defenses was terrifying. Beside the siege tanks, a dense crowd of Chinese Knights protected them, using their shields to block the attacks from the Archers and Ballistae.
Hot and Sour Noodles brandished his sword and personally climbed up the ladder to kill his way up. At the same time, he loudly ordered, "Those who have nothing better to do, get to the top of the walls! Seize the high vantage point and provide cover for the siege engines! Goddammit, we need to destroy the Great Wall within an hour! We've been delayed by this wall for too long!"
I unsheathed my sword and deactivated my mount. Then, I leaped off the back of the Armored Ice Qilin Horse and attached myself to the wall. Grabbing the scaling ladders with one hand, I started climbing up the wall. Hot and Sour Noodles immediately let out a hearty laugh when he saw me. "Good! Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls and Snowy Cathaya are finally back!
I nodded before turning around and ordering loudly, "Dragonlight Cavalry, cancel your mounts for now. Summon them when we're on the walls, and don't reveal yourselves for no reason. Once we're on the walls, summon the Ghost Chariot and use it to clear out Purple Grape City's players. Seize the high ground in twenty minutes! Supply troops, blast the gates open!"
Gui Guzi, Li Chengfeng, He Yi, Chaos Moon and the rest of the Dragonlight Cavalry immediately scaled the walls. In less than a few minutes, thousands of Dragonlight Cavalrymen had climbed up the walls and started fighting the enemy players. A few minutes later, the mounts' cooldown was up, and they were summoned immediately. Tens of thousands of Dragonlight Cavalrymen appeared on the walls.
When the Dragonlight Cavalry was summoned, Red Maple's face was about to turn purple. He raised his sword and shouted angrily, "It's over! Broken Halberd Sinks Into Sand's Dragonlight Cavalry has climbed the walls! What do we do now?
Blue Frost, tell me how many Wildfire Cavalrymen we have left! "
Blue Frost plunged her sword into the neck of a knight of Righteousness and pulled it out. Her robes were stained with blood as she replied without blinking, "We actually have almost 210k Wildfire Cavalrymen in total, but at least 100k of them died during the battle of attrition. We only have half of them left …"
Red Maple gritted his teeth and ordered, "Summon all of them to the walls and fight the Dragonlight Cavalry to the death!"
"No!"
Blue Frost said sincerely, "Calm down, Red Maple. The Great Wall is just a checkpoint, and we can always take it back if we lose it. Right now, we are at a disadvantage against so many enemy Divine Generals, and the Wildfire Cavalry is clearly at a disadvantage. We must conserve our strength to protect Purple Grape City. If we use up all of our forces here, we will be finished!"
Red Maple's face darkened, but he nodded slowly. "Yes, you're right!"
Then, Red Maple shook his sword and shouted, "All Wildfire Cavalrymen, withdraw from the walls and enter the Undead Hills in Swallow's Ear County. Wait for an opportunity to fight again! We don't care if we lose a city or a territory in this war. Our ultimate goal is to take the center and drive the China out of our territory. Those fertile resources belong to us, Japan!"
… …
A large number of God's Domain players swiftly retreated from the city under Red Maple's command, and the players we had to face were the second-rate and third-rate players of Purple Grape City. They were like lambs waiting to be slaughtered, and their feeble resistance was no longer able to do much damage to us. Everyone else, just watch as normal:).
The Purple Ying Sword was covered in blood. I didn't even know how many people I had killed, but my points were always at the top of the Nation War Ranking. Even a mage like Lian Xin couldn't catch up to me, so I charged to the front and killed the troublemakers. As long as I got 10% of their points, my total points would naturally be higher than ever!
Our points were skyrocketing, and Purple Grape City's player population had plummeted from 12 million to 4.8 million. In fact, many players from God's Domain and Feather Palace had already returned to the city. It was obvious that they had given up on this territory.
Below the walls, the siege chariots were digging into the walls with all their might, causing the battered walls to tremble even more. Finally, the walls in front of us cracked open and collapsed. The Dragonlight Cavalrymen standing on top of the walls struggled to keep their footing, but they didn't fall to their deaths along with the walls. Luckily, they didn't fall to their deaths.
Boom boom boom...
The earth shook, and the Great Wall of Impassability crumbled one after another. In the blink of an eye, it had truly become a pile of rubble.
… …
Millions of Purple Grape City players were standing in front of us with their mouths agape. No one thought that the Great Wall, the greatest fortress of the entire Heavenblessed Continent, would crumble just like that, and countless Chinese players were trampling over the remains of the Great Wall to charge into the pass.
Chiang!
I pulled out my sword and shouted, "Charge! It's time to earn points, brothers and sisters! Cross the Undead Hills and enter Swallow's Ear County! Trample Purple Grape City to the ground!"
Yes.
