Iron hooves stomped across the plains as I passed through the towering Fortress of the Iron Halberd. I looked up and saw a group of elite NPC archers standing at the top of the fortress. They were all succubus archers, and they were all wearing purple capes. Their pointy ears were trembling slightly, and their eyes were glowing with purple light as they stared into the distance.
"I'm afraid this war is going to drag on for a long time …"
On top of the city walls, a beautiful female archer stared into the distance and said, "The Purple Bell Scout Camp is the most elite archer group in the entire empire. Princess Karinshan has sent us here, so we mustn't disappoint her. Even if we all die at Fort of the Iron Halberd, we mustn't let the invaders enter Dawn Valley. Fans of the book like to read:!"
The female archer next to her smiled. "Don't worry, big sis. This time, it's our adventurer army that's going to conquer the enemy's city. Fortress of the Iron Halberd will not be threatened."
"Mn. Don't let your guard down. Be on guard 24 hours a day!"
"Yes!"
… …
I passed through the fortress gates with Coldness of the Nine States in hand. The wind outside blew against my battle robes and Sunstrider's cape. I licked my lips and said, "We've finally extended our swords into the north. I've been waiting for this day for far too long!"
Li Chengfeng rode next to me and asked, "Lu Chen, the India and Japan regions didn't show any signs of activity this time. Did you and Zhang Chun do something behind the scenes?"
I smiled. "We're an honorable alliance, you know. This time, we're allied with the Chaotic 27, Coldsword City, Iron Horse City, and the three major cities at the southeastern border. That's why we were able to pin down Swallow's Ear County, Elephant City, and Cyan Earth City. That's why we were able to attack the Northern Alliance with all our might."
"Oh?"
Li Chengfeng snorted and said disdainfully, "The Chaotic 27 are a bunch of untrustworthy scoundrels. How dare you trust them!" "Don't be so hasty.
"Don't be too hasty. There are no eternal friends, only eternal interests. We gave a Seven Star City to the Chaotic 27, and now we're helping them defend Seven Star City. They'll weigh the consequences. If we can give them Seven Star City, we can take it back. This time, China's forces will infiltrate the Northern Region and force the three major cities of the United States to retreat further north. The Chaotic 27 will be even more subservient to us!"
Li Chengfeng smiled. "Well, I usually have a deeper understanding of criminal cases, but my understanding of this kind of situation is far inferior to yours. I have to learn more in the future!"
"Heh …"
Suddenly, the sound of a system announcement reverberated in the air. Another player had obtained an SSS-rank Ancient Godly Skill Scroll — Ding ~!
System Announcement: Player "Breeze and Rain" (India) has used an Ancient Godly Skill Scroll and obtained an SSS Grade Ancient Godly Skill, [Asura's Possession]. He has successfully ascended to the Heavenly River Realm and obtained Heavenly River Transformation and Territory!
Asura's Possession (SSS Rank): Summons an Ancient God to possess the user. Increases the user's Attack Power by 100% and Attack, Defense, and HP by a large margin. Lasts for 15 seconds. 120 second cooldown. Consumes 50% MP after use.
… …
"Fuck, Breeze and Rain is so OP …" I clenched my fists and gritted my teeth.
Li Chengfeng looked up at me and said, "Yeah, I can't believe he got an SSS-rank scroll. He's seriously OP."
"I'm not saying he's OP just because he got an SSS-rank scroll. I'm just saying that he didn't die of exhaustion even after he entered the Sky Vortex and logged in for more than four days straight …"
"..."
Li Chengfeng curled his lips. "Maybe he's using a HP regeneration helmet. It's a new product, and it costs 500k each. Players can reduce their HP consumption to the maximum, so they won't die of exhaustion or starvation even if they stay online for four or five days straight.
"Regardless, this is an act of defiance against nature and life. It's best if we don't follow his example and log out in 72 hours at most."
"You're right. Humans follow the laws of earth, earth follows the laws of heaven, heaven follows the laws of Dao, and the laws of nature follow the laws of nature. In the end, we all have to obey the laws of nature, and defying the laws of nature is the same as defying the laws of nature …"
"You're absolutely right, you …" I praised.
Chaos Moon finally couldn't hold it in any longer. "Pooh! You two shameless bastards! Why are you talking about the laws of nature instead of talking about Breeze and Rain's SSS Rank Ancient Divine Skill?"
He Yi giggled. "Asura's Possession is similar to Beauty Lin and I's Gan Jiang Moxie and Shadow Concealing Light, but much stronger. It lasts for 15 seconds, and during that time, any attack is the same as an Ancient Divine Skill. It doesn't have the destructive power of the Xuanyuan Sword or Pangu Axe, but it lasts longer."
"Yeah. Just be careful the next time you run into Breeze and Rain. He can one-shot any one of us with his Soul Capture Divine General Skill …" I warned.
Li Chengfeng replied with a smile, "Whatever. I haven't ascended to the Milky Way yet, so I'll leave Breeze and Rain to the rest of you …"
"After the Nation War is over, you should head to the Sky Vortex and search for an Ancient Divine Skill …"
"Uh, okay …"
Chaos Moon blinked once before saying, "I checked the data. On the first day, more than 2000 new players completed their eighth promotion, 7000 on the second day, 20k on the third day, and 50k on the fourth day. This is an exponential increase, and the mainstream players are all starting to reach their eighth promotion. Li Chengfeng, you'll be under a lot of pressure if you want to enter Sky Vortex. Bring more Dragonlight Cavalrymen with you, and make sure that you're the leader in terms of success rate and strength."
Li Chengfeng nodded. "Mn, I got it. Just watch me stir up a storm at the Ruins of the Gods …"
Me: "..."
… …
In the end, after Breeze and Rain obtained the SSS-rank Ancient Godly Skill, another system announcement rang, and another international superstar player obtained the Ascend Heavenly River skill. Ding ~!
System Announcement: Player "Tear Stain (Korea)" has used an Ancient Divine Skill Scroll and obtained the SS Rank Ancient Divine Skill, "Taowu Slash". She has successfully ascended to the Milky Way Realm and obtained Milky Way Transformation and Domain!
Taowu Slash (SS Rank): Increases user's Attack by 100% and summons the Ancient God of Taowu. Deals a powerful attack to all targets within 20 yards and immobilizes them for 3 seconds. Cooldown: 120 seconds. Costs 50% MP to use.
… …
I stared at the sky speechlessly for a moment before saying, "Tear Stain has ascended as well …"
"SS Rank Ancient Divine Skill …" Li Chengfeng pursed his lips before smiling. "Taowu Slash? What an awful name. It's so awful that I could die from it …"
He Yi flipped through the information and said with a smile, "Korea doesn't have many legends or myths of its own to begin with, so there's no such thing as an SSS Rank Ancient Divine Skill. This Bi 'an Slash was probably passed down from an ancestor of Korea called the Bi' an.
I looked to the front and opened the world map. "Let's move faster and reach Hot Sand City in half an hour. I guarantee that we'll be able to take down this city within 24 hours. Greedy Wolf City, Ground Tiger City, and Proud Dragon City at the southeastern border are strong, but they won't be able to withstand the combined assault of Cyan Earth City and Swallow Ear County."
Li Chengfeng said, "Turkey and Pakistan are both very populous countries with a lot of players. They should be able to stall Cyan Earth City for 24 hours at the very least, right?"
"It's hard to say. Anyway, let's speed up and avoid unnecessary trouble. Right now, the entire map has entered Nation War mode, and we can't log back into the game if we die. I'm worried that they'll try to kill China's players on the plains and kill us all. If that happens, our War of Vengeance will be over. Everyone else, just watch."
"Mn, we'll do our best!"
… …
I contacted Stranger of Three Lifetimes, Lin Yixin, Ling Xueshang, Warsky, Candlelight Shadow and the others, and everyone agreed to speed up. The supply troops would stay behind, and the cavalry, mages, and archers would be the fastest. The sooner we reached Hot Sand City, the higher our chances of taking it. We were already deep into the Northern Alliance's territory, so we couldn't afford to be careless.
The dull sound of horse hooves reverberated across the plains, making the weather extremely gloomy. The grass on the plains was so hot that it looked like it could burst into flames at any moment.
Warsky Alliance led the charge, and the 70,000 Frostscale Cavalry led by Laughing At The Heavens and Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls and Snowy Cathaya followed closely behind them.
In front of us was a canyon. We had to pass through a narrow valley to reach the forest on the other side. Behind the forest was a majestic golden city. It was Hot Sand City, the main city of Vietnam. It was like a golden fortress standing in the middle of the forest.
… …
"Warsky, be careful!"
I shouted as I soared into the sky atop my Ancient Divine Dragon. "This is a place where it's easy to be ambushed. Slow down and send out more scouts!"
Warsky replied, "Don't worry, the Frostscale Cavalry can handle it!"
"Don't get careless!"
"Got it!"
… …
However, as soon as we exited the valley, chaos broke out in front of us. Explosions rang out incessantly, and the earth trembled. Piles of gunpowder exploded from the ground, and nearly 20,000 Frostscale Cavalrymen were blasted to smithereens. It was an assassin skill, Trapping. Trapping combined with explosives was a perfect ambush tactic!
On both sides of the canyon, Archers stood up from the bushes, pulled back their bowstrings, and unleashed Far Shot. Skypiercer and Spiraling Arrow Blades wreaked havoc in the crowd, killing the injured Frostscale Cavalrymen in droves. The explosions from the traps had already shaved away hundreds of thousands of their HP, so how could they possibly withstand the Archers' attacks?
The players lying in ambush on both sides of the mountain range were none other than the main force of Vietnam's number one guild, the Storm. Amidst the crowd, the Level 214 Eye of the Storm rode on his warhorse, wielding his battle axe as he shouted, "Steel Cavalry, prepare to charge! Let these Chinese have a taste of being ambushed!"
… …
After I raised my Ancient Divine Dragon's height, I could see that there were about a million players lying in ambush. In the distance, the elite cavalry of the Storm, Breaking Dawn, and other guilds were charging out of the valley. It looked like they were going to block all the China players outside the valley.
Warsky pursed his lips and asked, "What should we do, Little Rain?"
October Rain raised her bow and smiled. "Send the assassins and archers to sneak into the flanks of the mountain range. You and the Horned Beast Cavalry will charge from the front. Don't let the Dragonlight Cavalry take the vanguard anymore. They aren't cannon fodder …"
"Got it!"
