"Swhoosh! Everyone else, read as usual!"
The long-awaited Floating Ice City was as peaceful as ever. Cavalry units galloped through the plaza, and some new players were even setting up stalls and selling supplies.
I brought the Sky Obsidian Greedy Wolf with me and ran straight for the palace hall. Fans of the book also liked to read:
I passed through the main street of the city and strode into the palace hall under the watchful eyes of a group of guards. No one stopped me. It would seem that I had quite a bit of prestige in Floating Ice City.
A group of generals stood in the hall. Princess Karinshan was standing on the tall King's Step. She was dressed in exquisite silver armor, and her hand rested on the hilt of her sword. She was listening to the battle reports of her officials.
… …
"Eh?
Why are you here? "
The chief general below was a beautiful NPC girl. She was none other than the Green Dragon Knight, Tia. She walked up to me with a smile on her face.
I said, "It's bad!"
"Oh?"
Karinshan was also startled. She parted the crowd and walked over. Her beautiful eyes were filled with shock as she looked at me and said, "What exactly happened?"
I made a long story short. "The royal family of Sky City betrayed the Silver Moon Alliance. They activated the Purgatory Dragon Scepter and built a spatial bridge. Right now, the Sovereign of Hell, Coldblade, has led his army of ten million Night Creatures through the spatial bridge and teleported to Sky City. Sky City has officially fallen …"
"What?!"
Karinshan stared at me in disbelief as she glared at me with murderous intent. "How is this possible? What the hell are the royals of Sky City doing? What about the Senate? Don't tell me they don't have any objections?
If Sky City falls, the entire continent will be exposed to the Night Creatures. The Silver Moon Alliance will be in grave danger! "
I said, "The king of Sky City intends to use Coldblade to seize the throne of the continent. He compromised and pledged allegiance to Coldblade. The Senate is a bunch of scoundrels who only know how to sail with the wind. They have long since decided to betray the human alliance and become Coldblade's slaves."
Karinshan's eyes were filled with anger. She couldn't stop herself from punching a stone pillar hard enough to leave a deep mark on it. She looked at me and said, "It's great that you came back alive. You must have something to tell me since you've come to Floating Ice City, don't you?"
I nodded. "Yes. The commander of Sky City's Mad Lion Legion, Jacelyn, has declared war on the throne of Sky City. He and the other two commanders have sworn loyalty to you, Karinshan. I have come as a messenger. I hope that you can lead the army of Floating Ice City to attack and defend the sovereignty of the empire!"
"Alright!"
Karinshan pursed her lips and said, "Floating Ice City was originally under the jurisdiction of Sky City. Since the royal path is no longer there, I must use my status as the heir to the royal bloodline to reclaim Sky City and defend the dignity and glory of the human empire!"
Karinshan abruptly unsheathed her sword and raised it high in the air. She growled, "Generals of Floating Ice City, hear my command! Immediately mobilize all the legions and attack Sky City! We will slay Coldblade and defend our royal authority! The Black Cavalry will be the vanguard! Frost Army, Crimson Wolf Army, and Dragon Rider Army will follow me into battle!"
The generals immediately raised their swords and said, "As you command, Your Majesty!"
… …
Okay, the message was successfully delivered. My quest immediately updated — Ding ~!
System Notice: Your quest [Betrayal] has entered its final phase. Return to the borders of Sky City and participate in the war to reclaim Sky City. Eliminate 10 waves of devils from hell, enter the city with Karinshan, and defeat the Endless Storm.
Coldblade, kill the traitor of the human race and deliver his head to Rinser. You will be rewarded handsomely!
Another system announcement resounded in the skies above Sky City and Floating Ice City — Ding ~!
System Announcement: All players, please be informed that the [Coldblade War] patch has officially been activated. Sky City has been occupied by the Endless Storm.
Coldblade Lock had been occupied, and ten waves of Coldblade Army soldiers were ready to move out. All players were welcome to participate in the battle. Once the ten waves of Night Creatures were killed, the city's barrier would automatically disappear. Players could then enter the city and kill the monarchs who had betrayed humanity. Moreover, all players who participated in the Coldblade War would obtain points after killing the monsters they killed. At the end of the war, the top one hundred players would receive generous rewards!
… …
Alright, the rest was a lot simpler. All I had to do was launch a counterattack against Sky City with the NPC army and players. Then, I would kill the Night Creatures that were teleported over from the spatial bridge. After killing 10 waves, I would enter the city. This was a war to reclaim Sky City, but it was definitely a feast for the players of Sky City. Thanks to the war point system, the opportunity to level up quickly had arrived. Everyone else was just watching:
I was overjoyed as I gripped the Heaven-stealing Sword tightly. If I could become the MVP of this battle, reaching Level 125 wouldn't be a dream anymore. I was getting closer and closer to Level 150. Once I reached Level 150 and could ride a mount, my spring would officially arrive!
It was at this moment another system announcement resounded in the skies above the continent. Every player in Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls was overjoyed — System Announcement: Player "Legendary Brave (Sky City)" has successfully killed the Purple Gold Rank Boss Nightwalker and reached Level 116. He has also become a Famous General and become the fourteenth Famous General of China. He has gained Luck + 1, Tactics + 1, and an exclusive Famous General Skill — [Blitz]!
[Blitz]: Increases party members' attack speed by 40% and movement speed by 20%.
… …
Holy shit, Li Chengfeng's dragon warrior has finally become a Famous General!
Tsk tsk, this Famous General Skill is amazing! Not only does it increase attack speed by 40%, it also increases movement speed by 20%. Tsk tsk, this Famous General Skill is amazing! Not only does it increase attack speed by 40%, but it also increases movement speed by 20%. With Li Chengfeng's current Tactics, he could probably increase his attack speed by 100%, meaning that he would be able to hit someone twice if they attacked once. It was the equivalent of a critical hit every time. Li Chengfeng's attack speed was so high that it went without saying how powerful he was!
The guild channel was in an uproar right now. Xu Yang: "Hahaha, Li Chengfeng has finally become a Famous General! Congratulations!"
Li Chengfeng laughed loudly. "Mn, thank you, thank you!"
Gui Guzi said, "We can form a group of high-attack melee players in the guild and have Li Chengfeng lead them. Their high attack frequency will be the vanguard, and their continuous attacks will be absolutely sharp. No Holy Shield will be able to block them!"
Chaos Moon: "I want to party with you …"
Li Chengfeng: "Why don't you want to date me …"
Chaos Moon: "The only person in our guild that I want to date is Lu Chen. Who the hell do you think you are …"
Li Chengfeng: "I want to cry …"
He Yi giggled. "Alright alright, let's not talk about dating for now. Right now, all of you, gather at Dark Moon City. Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls and Bloody Mercenaries will form our own phalanx and participate in the Coldblade War. We need to minimize our losses and maximize our experience and equipment drops."
I nodded. "Yes, the guild leader is right. This time, the mobs that Coldblade is leading are extremely high-leveled. There's no way that our small group of players will be able to withstand their onslaught. Therefore, Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls must form a strong square formation of at least ten thousand people. Even if we're surrounded by mobs, we can still fight for a long time."
Li Chengfeng smiled. "As the two guild leaders have commanded, everyone, gather at the slope five kilometers away from the city. We're going to fight in the battle to reclaim the city. This time, we'll be fighting high-intensity battles that last for at least ten hours. Our core attackers, go take care of your physical needs. Eat, drink, and go to the toilet as soon as possible. We'll depart in 20 minutes!"
Xu Yang: "Fuck, you said everything I wanted to say …"
Li Chengfeng: "..."
… …
There was no doubt that Li Chengfeng's leadership skills were starting to show after a long period of training. This was a good thing. Right now, Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls had a lot of soldiers and generals. The main guild had ten thousand people, and Bloody Mercenaries had five thousand. All of them were elite players, and they had built a solid foundation for our future expansion.
I left Floating Ice City and teleported to Dark Moon City. The city was bustling with activity. Sky City had fallen into Coldblade's hands, and most of the players had teleported to Dark Moon City before it fell. There were also quite a few people who had gone to other places. Of course, most of them were still walking out of the city. At this time, there was already a sea of people at the foot of Sky City. Everyone was rubbing their palms and excitedly waiting for Coldblade's ten waves of attack.
I was a little speechless. These people probably only saw the reward points in the system announcement. Did they really think that these ten waves of Night Creatures would be easy to deal with?
I had seen Coldblade summon the Hell Legion before. The oppressive feeling of the end of the world made me realize that these ten waves of Night Creatures wouldn't be easy to deal with. Even though there were almost a hundred million players stationed in Sky City, they might not be able to hold out even if all of them worked together. Moreover, the players who died in this war couldn't be revived during the quest time. Many people were instantly torn to shreds by the Corpse Eaters the moment they logged into the game.
… …
When I arrived outside the city, I saw that there was a sea of people around the Ten Mile Slope. They were all wearing the emblem of Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls, and the most eye-catching of them all was the Fireblade Cavalry led by Gui Guzi. Even though there were only forty of them, they were like fireflies in a pitch-black night. They stood out from the crowd, and they were all mounted on Fireblade Warhorses. Every single one of them held a sharp blade in their hands, and their fighting spirit was high. The Fireblade Warhorses raised their front hooves and neighed repeatedly. Under Gui Guzi's leadership, it looked like they were ready to charge at any moment.
"Lu Chen is here!"
Chaos Moon walked up to me and asked, "What are your thoughts on this Coldblade War?"
I shook my head. "Nothing. Kill, earn points, and level up quickly. This is a rare opportunity!"
"Mn."
Chaos Moon nodded seriously. "I want to reach Level 120 as soon as possible. I want to get to my fifth class promotion as soon as possible. I want to become a super expert …"
I shot her a glance before saying, "Take your time. You still have a long way to go!"
"Uuuu …"
… …
It wasn't long before everyone was assembled. He Yi rode her snow-colored warhorse and galloped to the front of the battle line. Her red battle robes fluttered in the wind, and she looked extremely heroic. She raised her Whirlwind and ordered with a smile, "Let's go, Sky City!"
